Anyone have a particular brand recommendation of good zip ties that will hold up in the cold weather? I use them on my ratchet straps to hold the access straps together. I bought some from Wal-Mart that are made in USA that worked well up until its been cold the past month they just snap like twigs, they claim to work all the way down to -40 which hasn't been the case. Maybe I just got a bad batch? I'm going to Harbor Freight tomorrow as they have a big selection but I imagine the kinds they have will yield similar results. I like them in 15" lengths.
Thanks.

Get them online or from an electrical supply place. They don't get brittle. The internal catch piece that holds it tight is metal, not plastic -
I use a lot of harbor freight zip ties, but I don't experience the cold like that. I do know that their common zip ties seem to be 8 inch, 11 inch, both of which are too short for you, and 24 inch, which are heavy duty and a bit on the pricy side. At least that's what they carry around me.
Cheap duct tape works pretty well though, or I'd be looking for an online source.Shock Therapy and HalpinUout Thank this. -
I use Harbor Freight zip tie in non critical places, about 15% break or don zip, but they are cheap and the store is less than a mile from my house.

they are available in different thicknesses and lengths.
Or did you ever see the keyed strips of plastic that landscapers use to anchor newly planted small trees to the stakes on either side of the tree, they work good too and are reusable.Grubby, Oxbow, NightWind and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have way better luck with black ones than white ones in general. The white ones break even if it's warm or if they see even the slightest sunlight.

Try a "Wrap A Doodle Doo". I use them every day and I have never had to replace one for any reason after six years.
