The Truckers' DAC Problems

| What Is A Dac Report | Review Your Report |

Many truckers have contacted me regarding problems with their DAC employment report and the un-fairness in this reporting.  This report can gravely affect a driver with his/her career.  They are undoubtedly very secretive in this practice.

There is NO law stating that IF turned down for a job they have a right to receive and review this information as is the case when turned down for credit (that we are aware of).   Often times trucking companies submit false or deceiving information which the driver has no idea exists.

It is difficult to receive this report and trucking companies will NOT give it and are NOT forced to give this report to a prospective employee. Contact info for obtaining your report is listed below.   Trucking companies can use this report as a tool to "get revenge" on a driver who has quit them for whatever reason.

We feel this system has to be more OPEN and trucking companies should be forced by Congress to supply EVERY potential employee with a copy of this DAC report or at the very least IF the driver is turned down for ANY reason.

The Trucker's Report has contacted USIS (the agency responsible for this reporting) and asked for a quote from them directly.  Below is a list of the questions I asked them and I will report their reply as soon as it is acquired...

Dear Bill, [Winter]

This is Kevin Watts from www.thetruckersreport.com and would like to ask you some questions to do a report about DAC per our telephone conversation a few minutes ago.

1: Why can't drivers change mistakes on their DAC report when there are falsifications alleged by him/her? REFUSED TO ANSWER

2: Is there a law requiring a trucking company that uses a DAC report to disqualify a driver in which he/she is ENTITLED to a free copy of this report automatically? Such as is the process when applying for credit and denied? IF a person is denied credit they are entitled by law to receive a copy at NO expense. Is this the case with DAC reports & if so why aren't the trucking companies FORCED to make the drivers aware of how it is to be obtained?  REFUSED TO ANSWER

3: Why are these reports so secretive and not more open to the very persons this information pertains to?

4: Why aren't these reports more readily accessible via your website?  REFUSED TO ANSWER

Note: I will quote what you reply on my website and it WILL be in context so rest assured you will NOT need to worry about a misquote. IF you choose not to answer any question I will report that you were not willing to answer that particular question. This process is highly mistrusted by the drivers and it is thought to be highly secretive so I would suggest you answer them to the best of your ability in order to alleviate this view and obtain better publicity.

SIR, something has to be done to open this process up in our opinion and FAST.

UPDATE:  NO reply from USIS as of Dec, 27sth  2:04pm cst.
Well, drivers, should be NO surprise they answered NO COMMENT to ALL of the questions...

I have also contacted USIS at the phone number listed below to test how easy it is to get a copy of my report.  They were very nice and complied stating I will receive it shortly.  I will post a copy of my own personal report here and point out the problems on mine and I will go through the process to change any mistakes listed.  I will post what is done with my request to change mistakes and it will be open to all.  I will go through this process for you to prove EXACTLY how it works.

Drivers,  to all of you who complain and yet refuse to put your money where your mouth is you deserve this treatment.  These people rely on you doing just what you are doing now... NOTHING.  Do NOT send me complaints about this system unless you put your money where your mouth is and at least try to do something about it.  If you are ruined by this system then it's nobody's fault but yoursYou have kept the smiles on those faces screwing you by your own indifference.

What Is A DAC Report?
The DAC employment report is a detailed summary of a trucker's work history in the trucking industry. Most trucking companies today participate in sharing this information about truckers.

The DAC employment report contains items such as number of accidents, reasons for quitting or why they were fired, if they are eligible for re-hire, type of driving, commodities hauled, types of trailers pulled and MUCH more.

They can also verify social security numbers, driver's license numbers, criminal reports, worker's compensation reports, and much more.

How Do I Contact DAC To Get My Report?
call the DAC Consumer Department: 1-800-381-0645  (m-f 8-5 central)
visit website: http://www.usis.com/commercialservices/transportation/default.htm
Note: Of Course, You CANNOT get a copy online,  you must call OR write them to get a copy of your DAC report.
