DAD's Travel Center I-15 Exit 113 Idaho Falls, ID

Just finished my last meal and pie. It will be a pilot next time I come thru.

 

I think Wings is a full blown Flying Hook, now, unfortunately. Pilot is very adept at ruining a good thing.

 

Man this bums me out. Back when I was running maxi flat I'd fuel and shower there dang near every day going one direction or the other. It's really too bad we're losing all the good spots. I wonder what the food will be since Andrus already has the Subway across the street.

 

Too bad Flying Peelot can't do to Dad's what they have done to the Town Pump's out west and the Rump Ranger...errr, I mean Road Rangers in the mid-west. Both of those kept their franchise stores and restaurants but leased the fueling and shower system to Flying Peelot. The Town Pump's are a decent chain out here.

 

I just talked to a guy I used to work with and they told him at Dad's today that Pilot was coming in one way or another. If Andrus didn't sell they were going to buy land at the new exit north of there so he figured it's better to sell than compete. They're not sure on the restaurant. Frontier Pies had two years left on their lease but Pilot bought it out. They're thinking maybe a Denny's.

And at Billings, Rocker, Great Falls and Missoula the Town Pump also owns the Flying J's.

 

Leave it to the pilot to screw something good up....

 

Well the restaurant is closed. Putting in a Subway for sure and I heard an Arby's. Guess they're moving the Subway from across the street. PFJ sure is amazing when it comes to ruining a good thing.

 

Subway. Yuk. I walk in and can smell the stench of a Subway from the entrance. Worst tasting (and smelling) subs you can buy. Cheapo meats and bread. Sorry, can you tell I dislike Subway? I'll step away now.

 

This really makes me shake my head. Only the truly delirious would think shutting down a successful restaurant with very good, home-cooked food and replacing it with cheap, processed, poor quality Subway is a good idea.

 

Aw, man...did they at least keep the Taco John's?
