seems like a fail in load securement, very sad and a reminder that some mistakes you do not get to make twice
"semi" retired Thanks this. -
How do they do road construction and plow snow on parkways? In short trucks?

Could have been another 'GPS following' mistake. I saw a driver hauling beams in Denver tied down with straps. But the had the longer ones on top and the shorter ones on the bottom. Needless to say, between the rough road, the flex of the trailer and the flex of the beams, the back 2 straps were broken by the time he hit the end of I-270. The rough edges and the occasional slight slack from the flexing metal cut right thru the strap...the fool didn't even have corner protectors under the straps(or at least there were none left when he passed me)

Looks like they could put some sort of breakaway crossing arm at any/all on-ramps to parkways. Obviously there are some drivers out here that literally can not read english. Maybe if they smacked into a piece of wood hanging down at the on-ramp, at the same height as the bridges, they'd have enough sense to stop and back up???? Perhaps not.
10 to 1 the driver could read/write very little english. I'm sorry for the driver but how long must lack of common sense or basic skills be used an excuse for one's death?"semi" retired and w.h.o Thank this. -
When I train student I teach them to read every signs, from mm to ride share signs. Some of them just don't get it or fail to realize how important it is to read instead of believing a woman's voice(gps lady)

There really isn't that many trucks out there that could hard brake and not have the load shift. They are just lucky it hasn't happened to them yet...
Someone told them to do it like that, or they seen someone do it like that, or thought that the "legal" securement would be sufficient, and they don't give it a second thought. Time to stop and think or learn the hard way. -
Does anyone other than me think it would be a good idea to prove you can read and understand English before receiving a cdl? I don't understand how you obtain a cdl when you can't read a word of English. If this was a factor in this accident I say the driver carries a big big share of fault. No,I don't like seeing anyone hurt because of stupidity. As long as humans walk the face of the earth these situations are going to pop up from time to time.

I think you have to be able to speak English to take any of the CDL written exams, don't you? I think they are only produced in English.

Most of those who have problems with english do not have a visual connection/knowledge of "Passenger Cars Only" or "No Trucks"
