@Farmerbob1 ... I enjoyed what you wrote and I hope that upper management sees your message but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for changes.
The megas aren't about people, they're about money. When you come up with some ideas that increase their bottom line they might implement some changes.
They're probably as efficient now as they're ever going to be. Changes don't always save money and the things you're suggesting will take time and talent to implement. Time and talent cost money.
Until then you're just another malcontent crying in the wilderness. Irritate them unnecessarily and by this time next month they'll have gotten rid of you and they won't even remember your name.

So what happens with all the clocks ? They tell you that you have less driving time then you really have....?
Just to make sure you don’t go over...?Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
Some of the changes I suggested would take ongoing resources, but several of them would be one-time expenditures of a few minutes work by one person.
*shrug*
I am fairly confident that nothing will change if nobody tries to change it.LtlAnonymous, stuckinthemud, Mike2633 and 2 others Thank this. -
Clearly, that is broken and wrong.
The same thing on your 11 hour drive time clock and your 8 hour rest clock. If, for some reason you take a 30 minute break after a short drive period in the beginning of your day, say, after shagging a trailer and while waiting for your next assignment, the time remaining on your 11 will not be visible to you while you are rolling. Unless you can remember how much drive time you used, you won't be able to properly plan the rest of your day until after you take a second 30 minute break, or park and review the accurate data available when you have stopped the truck.Last edited: Mar 6, 2020

Many of your issues are peoplenet, not crete. Dealing with the same screwed up system. They were not ready for eld at all. You can tell it was done in great haste and at the last minute. Should be sued for foisting this pos on us.

I have been doing some thinking on this.
Frankly I am horrified at the ability of IT to muddy the waters across a entire company. Call it 100 cooks in the kitchen trying to cook a meal. Its not going to work.
It further hardens my position that if you want to spend money, you went to a officer who has the authority to spend money, if you want to have 100 drivers report to dispatcher so and so then thats what they did. Anyone else wants a truck from dispatcher so and so talks to him directly. Any issues interfering with so and so's driver being able to run it or late or broke etc gets redirected to another boss to fix or remedy the problem.
Thats just today.
Tomorrow they have to do it all over again for the next load and so on.
The more I consider the colossus we have birthed in this modern age the less I am inclined to want to be part of that spinning wheel.
Some of my best work within two or three companies with very large staffs and huge armies of drivers etc were with just two people in charge of me. One for dispatching and the other for safety. that's it. ALL others served me when I need them such as the shop boss. They don't get to say this or that outside of the immediate serving.
If I had felt that there are 100 chiefs elbowing each other to tell me how to run a load I want out. -
One reason Crete keeps its drivers is because they don’t Micro Manage them.
The drivers are adults, and as long as you are Safe, and on time.....Have a nice day!bzinger and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Our company used PeopleNet as an AOBRD, and were so underwhelmed that they ditched them for a different ELD (Maven).
As for your goal of affecting any kind of change, good luck! I have tried doing much the same more than once, carefully crafting clear concise analysis of problems and providing detailed and logical solutions, and I can’t remember any employer ever taking action. Oh, I did get thanks a few times, but nothing more. At least I didn’t suffer any negative consequences!G13Tomcat, Farmerbob1, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.
