    REALLY?

I hauled tens of thousands of bricks towards the Orioles Ball Stadium at Camden Yards untarped. I don't know... 100,000 bricks. Make it a million who cares. Took like what 20 million to build the place. Getting rained on many times a year.

I would agree that might take on water, but I don't think it will affect the scales at some point that much. And the problem with that is Ive never had to cross scales with the loads on hand in the routes we had back in the day.

    650cat425 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Yeah, well that and if that were the case, everyone who lived in a brick house would be in danger of having it blow up in the middle of a 2 day hurricane.
Didn't want to point that out, but there, I did.

No It started me thinking about bricks and rain. Truck certainly did not behave as if it had gained weight to paraphrase in increase lugging or rpm etc. Or crushed suspension and so on. My first impulse is to laugh off the water on brick idea. Then again I would think about this carefully as a diversion.

Believe it or not, they sprayed enough water against the fire at Notre Dame to which the very stones themselves are unstable from the fluid. Excluding all other problems it will be a few years to dry and see if it will stay standing or collapse.

Right now the French have the halted work due to Covid19 but they managed to have a good friday service for the first time last week with just 10 souls attending. But a service never the less.

    that’s another reason for mortar.
Ever park a load of lumber tarped over a mud hole?
That’ll soak up to and when they check the boards it’ll have high moisture content.

reading material to follow about wet bricks.. wonderful..

Virtually every brick wall will allow water to penetrate. The water has three possible paths. It can enter directly through the brick, the mortar, and/or the contact zone between the brick and mortar. ... Your wall leaks, I'll wager, are most likely originating at the vertical joints between many of the brick.

Bricks and mortar have a great capacity to absorb water. Both contain tiny passageways that actually suck water into the wall. Water can also enter through tiny cracks between the bricks and mortar. You can build a brick wall that does not transfer water to the inside of a home.
Therefore, adding water to brick is like adding water inside a water bottle, it adds weight.

    I know for a fact.
Years ago parked over the weekend, loaded with bricks during a storm, left out that Sunday and got hit with 1200 lb over gross on a previous legal load.
One of the things in life that make you go “Hmm”

@Cattleman84, I did not forget you. I needed to first celebrate the good news and stay with you on the bad. Sunshine and Rain days go together sometimes.

No one truly dies until no one remembers same in time.
