There really should be a sarcasm font. Back to the op, you are an at will employee, they can change the rules anytime they want.

if you get paid every 2 weeks, that means they took out at least $48.50, for each week.

you say with out your permission, but if you get health coverage, then you have to know about it. my employer took out weekly deductions for that as well.

i do not know what you mean by they do not pay you for your extra time....??

    what time you talking about..????

everyone (still working) may be feeling a pinch from the covid crisis in reduced pay checks, depending on who they work for, if there s not enough freight to move around.

if anything at all, if you are not satisfied with the answers you are getting, try and talk with other drivers with your company?

and maybe start looking for another job?

    Lonesome and bryan21384 Thank this.

I’m not sure if you’re telling the whole story original poster. Most companies don’t want to leave themselves wide open to liability. That said we are in unprecedented times and I have no doubt that some trucking companies are going to try some tricks and perhaps be a little shady in attempts to survive. My company, who I’ve been very happy with, is making me suddenly jump through hoops of fire to get detention pay approved. I often have to remind them several times and if I don’t completely follow the procedure precisely, it gets denied.

I don’t mind taking cuts in this fashion during this mess, as long as they step back up when it’s over. I don’t want to see a good company die, no fault of their own. but I’m also not really in a position to run a charity either. I am out here to work and earn as much money as I can.

The thing that historical about trucking is the more money you’re making, chances are the more money you’re making the company. That’s always been the beautiful thing about trucking. It’s a win-win. But not in this environment. If you’re driving hard right now these past few weeks you might actually be costing your company money , it’s scary what’s going on. Many will fail.

The problem lies is you don't know the laws if any have been broken, next would be your asking advice from people here when you really need to consult a lawyer who deals with work matters like this. The dispute sounds like possible labor laws but am not a lawyer I may have dabbed in law when I went to Baylor but that we a short-lived due to home issue and my issues.

There are lawyers who specialize in that I myself keep a lawyer under retainer because the laws are ever-changing the books get thicker and thicker. Personally, your best friend is evidence before you bother talking to a lawyer otherwise he or she may not even see a case to be had and if he doesn't see one your likely chance convincing another otherwise is next to none. I mean you could pay a lawyer to take a case but would the case be worth it because that lawyer will get his dues rather you win or lose.

I have won cases due to having a lot of evidence against companies some I won after everything was nothing more then 1k after the lawyer gets there cut to 50k which is chump change what the lawyers got.

Don't use some truck stop wanna be a lawyer either I have known some them get put under investigation despite having no formal qualifications and offering legal advice to claim they are a lawyers
