Harmonic balancers that are bad can cause bolts and brackets to break or crack..

 

In my early days of petrol engines, the trick was always a ported and polished intake and ‘extractors’ or headers. More efficient gas transfer.

The inside of the full tilt manifold is shiny smooth.

Not sure if they have them for newer engines.

The pre-emissions engine are relatively simple and just about any competent mechanic can work on them. Yes that means you can go to a mom and pop diesel service shop and not the dealership. Look into replacing the the bull gear which I think is more of a problem they have than the manifolds which is common to all engines.

 

Another great feeling is not having that stupid california sticker on the driver door ruining a beautiful paint job. Specially when you live 1500 miles away and are never going there.
