Now....back to trucking after our short visit into 'uncomfortable land'.

In keeping with my tradition of reporting bad or good about my employer. I have to say, during this whole 'kidney stone time-out' , Wylie never gave me any static about time off, even though it went way beyond their policy about 1 day off for each week out. And thankfully Peoplenet has an app that let's drivers communicate with the company without having to call or be near the truck. I was in my hospital room when I told my DM what was going on, and he sent HR a message about it, keeping them up to speed. As soon as I was released from the hospital and had a fairly firm idea of my medical future, I called HR. She sent me all the FMLA paperwork (in case my time off went longer than expected) and sent me the conctact info for the hospitalization insurance I just signed up for when we switched to the new insurance earlier this year. Plus, she answered any questions quickly taking the guesswork out of filling everything out correctly. Wylie is also less pickey about how the doctor words his medical release when it's time for the driver to come back. When we were Moore, they were associated with TLC...and had to play by TLC's rules about medical releases. When I was out with my wrist last year, I spent the better part of a day between my doctor and Moore's safety department getting the release worded right so TLC would accept it. Here, it could have been 'this guy can get back to work' as long as the words 'without any restrictions' was there somewhere. In fact, the toughest part about getting back to work was getting the attending physician's release since he splits his time between the hospital and his private practice. I finally got his written release after lunch yesterday. Now I am sitting in Laurinburg under my next load and it's

I guess they want to test me to see if I am as healthy as the doctor says I am. Headed to Lathrop, CA. With the deadhead miles from my pre-hospital run, it's a 3400+ mile run. Then I get to play up-n-down the west coast, and do some live loading out there at the Pilkington plant. I guess my 'quit sending me to live loads' temper tantrum came at a very inopportune time given the state of the covid-beer flu world we are living in...I will just shut up and be thankful to have a job.

Friday 5/15/20 at 10 am I was sitting in Laurinburg. Monday, 5/18/20 5:30 pm(eastern) I am sitting 2580 miles away in Bakersfield, CA... Not bad for a 65 mph truck pulling 45k lbs of glass....but my logbook is toast. After I get to the delivery in the morning, I'll have around 13 hrs on my 70 for the rest of Tue, Wed, and Thurs..

I forgot how much I HATE Cali!!!! Delivered bright and early yesterday, then they put me on a Wylie double drop going to the eastern shore of San Francisco bay, just south of Oakland. The load was grossing 79,700 w/half tanks, but I was 34,900 on the drives...so, I had to slide the 5th wheel up, and move my snow chains back and got it down to 34,340 lbs on the drives. 4:30 am, and it was 4-6 lanes of traffic headed across I-205 to I-508 to I-238. Once I got to 238, it was smooth sailing to 880 to the customer.

My BP is officially thru the roof. With Wylie's 'no loading pay' policy, this whole deal out here is just another way of bending a driver over and breaking it off up their arse...without lube. I knew I didn't get paid for live loading my own loads. But if they have me preload someone elses load...I still get nothing. Not hourly pay, detention and I only get loading pay if I load a Moore double drop...but they strategically placed no Moore doubles out here. And so far...I ran a 50 mile run. These are the crookedest ######## I have worked for yet. Every day I am here, they are making everyone else before them look better and better. AVOID THESE CON ARTISTS.

Another day in Hell. Talked to my DM today. He said I might be sitting all weekend. He said he warned me that this is how things worked out here. I said, the only thing I was told was there was a lot of live loading, and the occasional load-and-go, same day delivery loads. So far, I am on my 2nd $100 short haul load since getting here, and it delivers tomorrow morning. Plus, as of 17:00 today, the paystub for my 3500 mile paycheck, the only decent paycheck I will see in May, hasn't hit my inbox yet. If they screwed that up too...watch for the mushroom cloud when I explode on their worthless ### tomorrow. If they did screw my pay up, and I have to wait until next week to get paid...there just might be a Mack Pinnacle parked in Mascot's lobby come Tuesday morning...and I'd PC it all the way there from central Cali.

I hear ya...it's getting to the point where almost anywhere would be better than these people...if the people around my hometown weren't such cheapskates, I could work for Dealdash or Grubhub and make more...but Floridians don't tip worth a crap.

If you like OTR and you're in FL, have you thought about switching to tanker? There's quite a few companies like Oakley, Bynum and others based in Florida--that OJ ain't gonna haul itself!
