Yep i cant wait for the breaking news story about the 250 self driving truck pileup on i80 when the first truck goes off the road due to wind and ice, and the other 249 "platooning" (which really just means, inadequate following distance) follow the first truck off the road....

I don’t think ever. Same thing with the military trying to replace troops w robots. It won’t happen. You can have all the tech & computers in the world, they’ll never have the judgement skills or the emotion that you get from humans.
Besides, imagine how many companies would loose everything from lawsuits bc they decided the computer they bought was smarter than the human that was in that truck & now their family member is dead.sirhwy, Speed_Drums, PSM379 and 3 others Thank this. -

So maybe we'll just get fully automated highway cruise control and just do city driving lol . They'd probably not pay us the same tho -

I think at best it would end up like something of an auto pilot feature similar to commercial aircraft with a driver behind the wheel that can take over in any situation.
Who would be willing to let a truck drive itself while you’re sitting in it? I don’t know, certainly not me & I hope by then I’ll be long gone from the industry anyways.Speed_Drums and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
