He can lease on with no experience, just buy a white Volvo, go to Chicago and you can get hired.

U still wont get leased on after 6 months either. Landstar will take u at a year. And mercer... but i just hope u understand there is more to this than driving. Do u know how to turn wrenches? Because that is what u will be doing in ur down time. Or u will be paying somebody to do it for u

Now these guys have given you some true real advice based on years of experience. I have seen guys come out of the corporate world come into this industry and taking pay cut but enjoying the change. They working as company driver, now these companies do have opportunities for responsible individuals. Got to remember a lot of suspects trying to get into trucking a good prospect is valuable. If you go that route all the interviews you do, you are interviewing them you will glean enough information to decide if you could work with them.

    sventvkg Thanks this.

I guarantee you, because I've seen it multiple times, first hand - that this isn't 'Just a business', until you've 'been there, done that'

Not being a wanker - it's just what I know.

And because no one else has said it yet, you’re not going from zero otr into a high end enclosed, not even company. If that’s where you want to be, you might be able to find someone to train you to haul cars with an open transport. Look up Reliable transport, I know the run a few open decks, not sure if they’ll train though.

Lite bug, D.Tibbitt and sventvkg Thank this.
