Just looking for some reviews from other owner ops I’m looking at a 14 Great Dane flat floor reefer (since I haul lots of bulk produce on the floor) it has a carrier vector 6500 hybrid diesel over electric I have never owned or seen more then a couple of these I was curious as to how they are treating everyone or should I stay away I would like to stay with carrier since my other units are carrier and have local parts and service thank you!

@Misesian has a vector unit. I don’t remember the number, but he has a thread in the o/o section. He’s had it a few years.

Mine is an 8500. The 6500 still used the same compressor as the X2, the 6 cylinder compressor. The 8500 uses a fully hermetic compressor like your home AC unit has or refrigerator. I don’t know how well the 6500s performed. Witte Bros. out of MO had quite a few before the 8500 came out, maybe reach someone over there in the shop or one of the suits and see what they have to say. The Vector 8500 is a really good one. If you can’t get much info on the 6500s and can’t find any 8500s, the X4 units are fine. The X4 is fully belt driven like you’re used to.
