What im saying is if the load pays 2000 dollars . They are paying u a percentage of the linehaul. If fuel surcharge is 400 dollars on a 2k dollar load then u are getting paid off of 1600 . Fuel surcharge is the trucks money not the drivers. But like i said i see where ur coming from

IMO fsc should go to you too. That's all part of the gross. If i had a driver i wouldn't take that away from them

Remember, there is no FSC on Agricultural or Forestry products.

Some will say “Lumber pays FSC”
Not in all states/don’t ask me why, but grain pays by the hundred weight or by bushel or tonnage.

Funny thing is that load I was inquiring about on my settlement was a lumber load. Im gonna ask my Dallas dispatcher next week about our lumber loads and if they have a fsc on them.

Learning, learning and more learning. I was always planning on going percentage but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask what the experts know. I want to go O/O in 2 years or less so going percentage right away would give me some insight on load pay at the very least. But, as they say, there is always more to the story. Now I have more questions to ask the recruiter and a better picture of how much I don’t know.

Percentages vary from place to place.

We have an all in sum on our freight bills, then the FSC and any extra pay is broken out of that.

We get 100% of the FSC and the extras, so it's important to know what the amounts are.

And like Tibbit said, you're a company driver, why would they give you the FSC?

I get what you're saying. The place my dad was leased to for 20+ yrs used to give 100% fsc + tolls. Even if if they don't give 100 of it i still think the driver should get a good piece of it.

If you're talking to me, here's how that load breaks down for a lease operator at my company vs a company driver.

Load pays $650 plus a fsc IF there is one. If no fsc, then the load pays $650. So a l/o gets the $650. A company truck (me) gets $650 - the estimated fuel cost to go from Port Arthur Tx to San Antonio, tx. In my case they figured it cost $60, so they took $60 off the $650 and paid me 26% of that. $650 is the linehaul rate. So if they're deducting fuel cost, might as well deduct insurance cost and any other costs associated with running the truck.
