Guess you seem to think everyone should think like you. It not for you to judge anyone for having a clean truck because you like to keep nasty dirty truck. It not your money to spend and maybe if you where a real O/O you would understand why we wash our trucks. My name is on the title the IRP plate in my name IFTA in my name and I get all loads myself. It really makes me wonder why you run for so little money. Call it what is "lease purchase scam" cause I need more miles and less money.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

Wow. Critiquing someone's business practices over truck washing is a bridge too far for me. Whatever.
I will say a clean truck rides and drives better. It's true. I don't wait in stupid lines though. I do it at home. I find it relaxing while enjoying a six pack.Farmerbob1, Long FLD and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
On the other hand, clean trucks and chrome don't amount to much in our game.
I wash mine when I change my oil.
And the inside is spotless.Farmerbob1, Itsbrokeagain and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
Mine gets washed. In 2 hours it's right back to dirty.
Mine rides the same clean or dirty.Farmerbob1, Opus and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
Bottom line is the truck wash is in business to make money. Not prioritize who needs washed the most.
Some people don't cut their grass because it doesn't matter in the grand scheme. I don't judge other people's grass, or trucks. I just know how I like mine.
I do.kinda judge if I'm being honest.Farmerbob1, dunchues and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
My fleet washes every two weeks. I have a service come to the yard in order to be more efficient. I’m 100% pro wash because I have pride in what I do.
My brokerage side gets pictures of every truck we hire, if it’s a mess we don’t use the carrier. My customer, thankfully only wants the best and are willing to pay for it.iledbett, Itsbrokeagain, blacklabel and 2 others Thank this. -
Complaining about waiting for a washout because guys are getting their trucks washed at a truck wash is like pulling in to Loves to wash your windows and complaining about waiting for guys to get fuel.
When I quit pulling pneumatic I lost my free wash bay, so now my truck and trailer gets washed on Friday before I park for the weekend and sometimes midweek depending on how dirty it is and what my next couple loads are. I’d say on average I spend $6-700 a month on washes. I like clean and shiny, I can’t stand a scurvy truck. It’s a lot nicer climbing around and under a clean truck on the weekends. Also easier to spot problems when there’s not 2 months of grease flung all over.lester, fordconvert, wore out and 8 others Thank this. -

Well, September was a good month maintenance-wise. No maintenance costs other than buying two gallons of oil.
The truck is leaking a few drops overnight every night leaving a 2 inch spot under where the engine and transmission meet. I have used a gallon of oil in the last six weeks, and am about a quart or so low now.
I am getting ready to go on hometime for a week or so. We shall see what the shop has to say about that leak. The 1 year engine rebuild warranty is still active, and the recent clutch replacement should also carry a warranty. If the leak is due to a seal that was disturbed or replaced for either job, I will push for them to fix the problem under warranty.Cat sdp, dwells40, Itsbrokeagain and 1 other person Thank this.
