I live in GA, I had an accident on my truck back in July in Ohio. It did get towed, no other vehicle involved but a fence was damaged. I know the accident is considered a DOT reportable. I got a citation back then for failure to maintain control that was 3 points. However the lawyer I got was able to reduce it to an equipment violation and no points. I am checking my MVR and notice that there was no accident involved with this violation. I don't want to call the state and ask questions because if it is something that is beneficial to me I don't want to mess it up.
    My question is,
-Why does it show that there was no accident?
-When applying to jobs how should i present this?

    Thank you for your information!

I would keep my mouth shut as far as my MVR goes. The accident will come into play when future companies check with your current company but you can say there was no citation given and back that up with your MVR.

What you get charged for on the state level is different than what the federally required background check is.
Per the FMCSA, when hiring the new company has to contact all old companies for the last 10 years. Drug tests and safety information has to be given. plus the insurance database has the information.
There is no point lying about it, it will be found and you will not be offered a job.

What I read no other vehicles were involved, just your truck and a fence?
    Right?

If you must when getting a job, tell them you hit a fence, called to report it, was charged as accident.
But you best not do it again.:biggrin_25513:

First, let's get rid of some of the none essential information. That DOT recordable thing is not something you should worry about. I suggest you also stop worrying about what your MVR holds. It holds officially what the State of Ohio reported to the CDLIS. That is the answer to your first question! As too your last question I recommend total honesty. If you had any idea the number of accidents some still active drivers have, you would honestly be laughing at yours. That last comment is actually a pathetic situation, but it is true. Yesterday I spent most of the day building my new computer and at one point had to get a friend to take me to a local electronics store so I could buy a computer video card. While there I ran into a friend of mine that works in a carrier safety dept. He and I were talking and he made a face and asked me if I thought I would ever be able to drive again? I said no, why? He said he had to fire a driver Friday morning because he had ANOTHER backing accident and tore off most of the right side of an almost new truck at a truck stop. Just be honest on the applications AND ONLY answer what they ask! If this is all you have to worry about, trust me, stop!

I have epilepsy, I lost my drivers license several years back, hell I can’t even drive a lawnmower. Pathetic I know but it is what it is I’ve learned to adjust.
