I does look like the same financial path many equity firms carry out with low profit firms.
Do the buy out, finance as much as possible.
Withdraw the most funds possible.
Let the remaining business file bankrupt awash in debt.
Travel Centers of America is failing and will declare bankruptcy within five years.

Love's is going to be the biggest and best truck in America because they are no longer selling milk or water by the gallon.
Like the boiling frog, truckers won't have any noticeable negative reaction to this drinking water price increase.
Eventually, we can look forward to even smaller water bottles.

Don’t get me wrong, I know why Citibank wants to loan the $200 million. They see huge parcels of T/A land in industrial sections that could be redeveloped and resold.
In an inflationary environment where the government magically waves a wand and gives every man woman and child in the U.S. $600, hard assets like land and precious metals will hold value. It’s a smart investment from Citibank’s standpoint.
I hope they considered the money and time it will cost to complete the environmental studies required before they can sell them. In a past life, when I was financing commercial properties, any kind of dry cleaner historically on the property would kill financing. The solvents would have inevitably leeched into the ground and a long, expensive environmental clean up would be required. There’s no statute of limitations on murder or environmental clean up requirements.Another Canadian driver, Trucker61016, xsetra and 1 other person Thank this. -
You know, when you compare Kwiktrip and Kwikstar to the TA lineup. Wow, TA could learn a lot. I don’t think there’s a better “chain” Truckstop like the larger Kwiktrip and Kwikstars that have all the amenities. The large pizza for 4.99 is better than the 2 slices at pilot. Free parking, clean showers, friendly staff, and some seriously low prices on select items in the store are great.
The owner of this post did not receive any compensation from Kwikstar or Kwiktrip but encourage compensation to be sent to him.Another Canadian driver, Jed2009, Opendeckin and 15 others Thank this. -

I like some Petro’s and T/A and fuel at them or mom and pop stops. Usually the more experienced drivers stop at such stops and the mega #### box fleets stick to Loves and pilot. That and not waiting usually for an hour or more for a shower is a plus. Or 45 min to get fuel. Most of the smaller stops have straight diesel and not the watered down bio garbage.

Not to mention it is like an Olympic judging event in the restrooms as drivers are waiting and watching through the huge 2 inch stall cracks as drivers are wiping. Front to back, back to front, side to side, drivers get the full show as they brush their teeth.
