Got another Coke (fruit juice) load. Picked it up Saturday, delivering in Memphis tomorrow. Easy run, made it to Memphis yesterday to the Pilot(with the Arby's) which is only a couple miles from my delivery. Paid for a parking spot so I didn't have to rush. Parked, and had a Hispanic dude park next to me a couple hours later. After supper I hung my window shades and got ready to watch some Netflix. A while later, I heard knocking...which I generally ignore. Then I heard knocking on the Hispanic guys truck...then shouting. Turns out, the armed security guard was moving trucks that hadn't paid for a parking spot, and mistakenly overlooked my receipt in the window...but the other guy hadn't paid, and was refusing to move, all while the guy that had paid was waiting for his parking spot. I really thought there was gonna be police and a tow truck in the other guy's future. In the end, the squatter left, and the rightful renter got his spot

I always feel a little bad when I have to kick a squatter out of a spot I paid for. But I’m glad for the armed security in Memphis!
There is a kick ### bar-b-q place right next to the other Pilot next door. I think it’s called Wellingtons. Just a small trailer. Really good food. -
If you like Mexican, I walk over the bridge to Pancho's.
Good food.650cat425 Thanks this. -

But some of the best places to eat and have a beer are well within walking distance of truckstops.

Do like I do. Carry a Walther PPK/S in your back pocket.

Did a shorty load, my 1st -20 degree load. Picked it up at our W. Memphis yard. The previous driver had dropped it off the concrete pad and it sunk up to the reefer's fuel tank, bending it along with breaking the aero-skirts. (I picked it up after it had been pulled up and out to a safe location) So, after I got empty in Sikeston, MO, I took it to the dealer to see if they could fix it...not today, have to order parts, so I dropped it and bobtailed to the Love's down the street. Not my most productive week, but the week between the holidays seldom is, so I won't fret about it.
Adding up my total gross from We-Lie and Shaffer, I am still grossing in the mid $70’s for the year, even with all the time off for kidney stone treatments and my mini-vacation between companies. All in all, I really don't have anything to complain about...but, fear not, I'll find something that bothers me enough to spout off.gräkken, Swedish Chef, Speed_Drums and 13 others Thank this.
