the spring(s) in the wiper arm may be weaker than when the truck was brand new. we all need to remember that in our trucks, many accessories are working for several hours each time. compared to our personal vehicles, where accessories are only working like maybe for an hour at the most.

i never used an "additive" such as soaps, due to the possibility of sub freezing temps, and gelling of soaps.

i only used washer fluid and maybe rubbing alcohol. i think Rain-X makes an additive that is also a cleaner, i think Prestone does as well.

    I second the rubbing alcohol.
Put it in the 4 wheelers every winter.

Just filled mine, but lines are frozen. I turn them on high, it eventually gets salt off. Works in a pinch. I have a small bottle of the rain x additive. Must be 20 yrs.old, never have used it. Now where’s that #%*+! alcohol at?

Good quality winter wiper fluid works for me. If it is ridiculously cold I'll toss in a bottle of rubbing alcohol to keep it from freezing up.

Well I’m getting loaded, WWs working. It may not have been froze. Sometimes it just doesn’t work. Bought a new pump years ago, and it started working. Still have the pump. I think it’s in my switch. So far it’s always worked for DOT inspections. I better change the switch.

I like the Rain x washer fluid myself. I keep a qt spray bottle filled with Simple Green in the side box. When I stop for fuel I spray the windshield down and let it soak while I fuel.

I get -20, -30 below washer fluid. Not sure what government standards is used to give the crap its temperature rating? Gets down towards zero, the crap freezes enough to quit spraying. Like dockbumper says, I use isopropyl alcohol from CVS, amazon or any place convenient. Add a quartish with gallon of w/w when cold. Believe it helps.
How can adding alcohol be a bad thing? :occasion5:

Alcohol and Rain X or Blue washer fluid only.
I used to put liquid detergent in and it cleaned well, but when the weather warms up it gets kind of slimy and clogs up the pump.
Read somewhere about never put the Orange fluid in anything.

I keep a little bottle of Dawn in the side box, and at the fuel island run a line down their sponge, and go to town.

Removal of existing film from glass has its merits.

I like the “Scrub blade” twin blade wipers.

I've often wondered if those blades were worth the extra$$$. I suppose you could just use one on the drivers side?

    truckdriver31 Thanks this.
