I think that falls under a different category. The ELD is required by law, and the lessor's truck has to be able to operate within the lessee carrier's ELD system. It wouldn't be reasonable to expect a carrier to accommodate multiple ELD systems.

Considering they're only in the second round (its a random drawing of two coordinators each round), that is yet to be seen.

You do have a point there. They could just require it to be returned, damage free, once the lease is terminated.

I was checking out Mercer more for sport than anything else. And they won’t even return a email or voicemail. They want you to call them 9-5 Monday-Friday. I just wanted some details at this point.......

    Matt1924 Thanks this.

I've seen some 20s, can't recall any 21s. But since we've been at the house for 2 months who knows. My number is 18***, two years later and we're at least approaching 21.

Are you planning on leaving them when your truck # is called in for the camera deal?

    Matt1924 and PoleCrusher Thank this.

I'm not sure what we're going to do yet. I'm gonna make some calls this week and see if we can find another carrier that will allow me to continue training my wife. We're not in the best position to make a change, but once a carrier starts down this road, it's not long before they're trying to take over your whole truck.

Making a requirement to have a dashcam is not a problem, and their stated reasons make sense. But their requirement that we buy theirs, which would be useless if we ever left... yeah that's an issue.
