Yes, I have visited many of the now Museum ships on both coasts. I have a friend I have known since she was a teen. She is today married to a Navy one star. Her father passed away about 15 years ago. This man was an Emory 64M Graduate and served on the USS Yorktown CVS 10 as a medical officer. I was with her and her family when we paid a visit to Patriots Point in Charleston SC where the "fighting lady" is today. I was about 5 feet behind her walking beside her oldest son. The walkway from the land enters into the hanger deck. I noticed my friend stopped about 20 or so feet from this deck. I saw her husband grab ahold of her. I then heard her tell him that walking on that ship to her was like walking on a grave and she refused to enter that ship. Since I had already been in it many times I walked back to the park with her and we had a meal while we waited on her husband and sons to return. Ever since that day I have never entered a retired Naval ship and have no plans to do so.

This One Star has told me many times he can get me on board any active ship. I do love to go over to Norfolk and look at the USS Wisconsin BB 64. Every time I see that ship I am reminded of what TR once said. Speak softly but carry a big stick. This is why the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71 is called "The Stick".

@MACK E-6 That is mine. Now I feel the need to make it drivable.
The hell with trying to purge the cylinders. I will deal wiith them IF it over heats. For now its time to bolt the seat on and get the floppy fenders tightened. I have a driveway that needs some bucket loving

The Big E, that was the ship my dad was in during his navy career, waistcat.
He still says it’s a disgrace to scrap it.

So I wake up and The OM is on the phone at like 0445. I'm Like," Who are you talking to?"

She books us on this load. I'm like," I thought we were going to stay home and lead the good life for awhile?"
