FedEx goes viral - Surely this is not the norm in LTL, is it?

I came across this just now. Maybe "viral" is the wrong word, but Reddit is a pretty big website so I'm sure FedEx higher ups can't be happy about this post making the front page of Reddit today. I'm thinking of going into LTL, and I wanted to ask - Surely this standard isn't the norm in LTL, right?

For companies like Old Dominion, Estes, UPS, they don't operate like this, do they? I thought FedEx was supposed to be one of the better companies too? I know FedEx is a household name just like UPS is among the general population (whereas Estes and Old Dominion aren't, not for the general public anyways).

I've only done OTR driving (both reefer and dry van for the same company) and maybe I've just been lucky, but I've NEVER seen a trailer this badly loaded before where it looks like stuff was just thrown in at random. I hauled stuff mostly stuff on pallets and if they weren't on pallets then it was very organized. I never saw anything that was like this.

    Title of the thread:

"I work for FedEx and this is what my truck looked like everyday. I talked to my mangers and higher ups multiple times to fix this and nothing happened. It’s time for the world to see this. This is how your stuff is treated"

and they want $15.00 per hour..??

that has to be FedEx Ground.

frankly for the service they provide, they are lucky someone doesn't beat them with a baseball bat

No doubt there are some people that don't give a darn about your packages. But can you imagine trying to load a couple hundred packages of different size and different order of loading and unloading. Wouldn't exactly be an easy task.

Looks like the insides of a Walmart trailer when it arrives at a walmart.

Looks exactly like a Dollar General trailer - except that with Dollar General, they're hauling their own stuff.

You people should have seen a 30 ' trailer, store door delivery of 42 stops, in 1954. We purposely loaded in a similar fashion, so the next stop/order was the next stuff in front of you. Tickets were routed by stops, turned upside down and loaded. As you got to a stop, you grabbed the ticket, crawled in and gathered the order to the door. Helper stacked the stick of bologna , sausage, box, bucket of liver, on top of the 30 lb box of neckbones and trotted it in. If they had a side of beef, unhooked it from the rail, chunked on floor, got out and followed the other man inside. I was driver, boss, collected the money and verified the re weights on beef sides. Swapped positions every other stop (Yes, the customer weighed it on his scales and you changed the weight on the ticket. Office determined which one to bill by). 42 stops, only 2 were regular COD's. In several places we could park at/near an intersection and work 4 stores on the 4 corners at once.
Up at 2 AM, stopped for helper, drove 150 miles to Greenville, MS and hit first stop before 7. Made them and usually done by 5-6. Eat supper and drove the 150 back. Did this on Mondays and Thursdays, ran a straight load to the branch in Birmingham Wed and Sat. Shot pool most of Tuesdays and Fridays.

I'm parked in the street in Shaw MS, town marshal saunters up and ask how long I'd be there??? Not long Sir, be right back, We need to talk. Retd from the delivery and gave him a 12 pound box of sliced bacon that just happened to be over and I did not want to run the reefer back just for it. Most appreciative, and no one hit my big yellow trailer with the pic of a boy eating a hot dog on its side. Would have had to run over him standing along side it directing any traffic. Great Days.

Looks just like a lot of UPS trailers I would unload when I was a package handler. When you ship thousands of packages a day obviously some are going to get ripped/broken.

Not every trailer can be packed high&tight, which obviously will make those packages fly all over the place in transit.

    Nothing to see here.

Same. For every torn up box, there's 100,000 that aren't. Also if a controversial post makes it to the top of Reddit, you can safely ignore it. Those #####es love to ##### and moan about everything while sipping a soy latte.

They're #####ing about the government talking about a mileage tax on passenger vehicles. Geniuses think it can't happen because "you could never track or enforce it". And they're so #### smug in their bubbles and echo chambers. Like have any of you Einstein's ever heard of IFTA??
