Decide what you want in a company. Then look for that.

One driver's great company, can be another driver's crap show.

Where do you work now? What type of Trucking do you want to do(Dry van, refer, flatbed, etc.). Where do you live? What kind of home time would you like? We need more information before we can make a good suggestion.

    - I only make .35 CPM so thats the main concern I want at least .50 CPM .
    - Want some form of guaranteed or regular pay
    - Company that treats their drivers well and doesn't disrespect or talk down to them.
    - Has to be Dry Van or Reefer (not willing to do flatbed, don't have endorsements yet for Tank/Hazmat/Doubles/Triples but I will have them this summer)

+ Prefer drop and hook to live load/unloads but its not a need just hate wasting tons of time unless I get paid well for it (which doesn't seem very common practice)
+ Prefer South East regional or NC local but I'll take another OTR if i need to

Just read where Crete has raised their pay again. They say 4th time in the last 12 months. 60-68 cpm for practical miles. Don't know much about them. Check it out and get back to us. Maybe you only get 1800 miles per week at that rate. I really don't see company drivers getting 3000 miles per week and grossing $2000.00 per week. I'm sure there is a Crete driver on here that can fill in the gaps. Congrats on the 1 year mark........you are now officially among the TEN PERCENTERS!:D:cool:

Check out LTL companies in your area, being in nc look out for southeastern, old dominion, estes, R&L FedEx freight and AAA cooper.

Most LTL are currently hiring for city P&D or linehaul.

    Good luck.

Get you endorsements before you get ready to jump. Lot of chemical tanker companies in the NC area. Don't have a lot of waiting a the customers but in tanker you do get paid for it. And get paid for pretty much all you do. Lot of local and regional, out & back loads too. Heniff, Dana and Quality Carriers all have terminals in NC, among others. Heniff may be the better option. Before you mess with online applications, find a terminal and go in person and talk to the terminal manager. If he wants to give you a shot you are probably set.
