Oh geeze, I feel your pain. Way back before 9-11. When I was a 16 year old kid delivering parts for an electrical company in a pickup truck. I was on an air force base delivering these parts. I got on a wrong road, and ending up popping out about 20 yards from where a dozen or more B-1 Bombers were sitting. I had more M-16's and govt .45's pointed at me than I could shake a stick at. My freakin knees were knocking, and those boys weren't playing. It wasn't really my fault as all the roads were just dirt construction roads, barely bull dozer paths, and you couldn't see the B-1's through the trees, until you were already there.

yes i am serious...still waiting to go to court on that ticket...and no the rolls were the large rolls...not double stacked..the ones that 2 side by side can not fit properly...they have to be staggered...and they WERE loaded as 4 in the front over the drives, and 4 in the rear over the tandems...that's not how they were when i opened the doors at the receiver..lol...yea i should have just blown the light, but i was also afraid of who might be comming through the intersection...i would have T-Boned and killed them..IF there was anyone...

Back in the 80's I was driving across wonderful Wyoming in a raging blizzard just trying to get off the road. I wound up driving over the 3 sisters, up Sherman hill, and finally made it east of Cheyenne. It was an episode that I fondly remember to this day. I finally make it to a truck stop around 4AM and was able to pull off the interstate and get into the parking lot where I proceeded to get stuck. It was around 4pm the next afternoon when the wrecker finally was able to pull me out. What was the lesson learned? I left a perfectly safe spot 300 miles behind me to try and out run the storm....wrong! After that episode I now sleep rather than try and be super trucker.

    oh the choices........

the dumbest thing i ever did?

i was a substituting for the jockey at a paper cutting plant, and of course it's the last trailer to pull out on friday afternoon. i was in the office waiting for the paperwork when the forklift driver finished up. on my way out i check the back of the trailer, and lo and behold he never picked up the dock plate and some of the last roll of paper was sitting on it. no problem, when i pull out the plate will ease out and drop i pull the trailer, go back to shut the doors and the left one won't shut! WTH. then i see it.....just a leetle bit, maybe 1/2" of roll hanging out. ####. i back it back in thinking that by hitting the dock it will push in back in, afterall first shift is gone and 2nd won't do anything until after 5 at the earliest and i want to go home. doesn't work. so then i get a brilliant idea. if i push the door with all my strength i can get it back in myself. when the door hit that roll of paper, the latch flew up, hit me in the lip. no pain, lots of blood, a golf cart ride around the corner to the hospital and 15 stiches. to this day i still don't know why i thought i could push and move a 400lb+ roll of paper.

Dumbest thing I ever had a trainee do was scream we are both going to die as he kicked it out of gear going down Parley. He wanted to see if he could take it down in Neutral. Need less to say I ripped his ### out of the seat and got her back into a GOOD GEAR. He was left behind at the Sapp Bros in SLC. I think England Hired him.

Stupiest thing I did was hit a Road grader tire full of cement that a bunch of Teenagers had dragged into the road. They did it as a joke they told the Cops. Stopped my Overgross I was sitting at 81K full tanked in upstate NY in 60 feet. Did 6K in damage to my brand new Pete I was driving at the time. Destroyed all the bumper mounts and cracked the LF Spring Shackle we found out after getting the truck looked at in the shop.
