You shouldn’t wait until you get to the top of the hill before making your mind up which way to turn, you should know ahead of time..

I already voted. What proactive efforts would you suggest at this point?

Has nothing to do with voting, just making your mind up before you you get there and see it’s a dead end street

Ok but what about the majority of kids whose academic skill set won't get them a scholarship? By definition I think those monies are set aside for the FEW who hit a benchmark of grades or hobbies or niche backgrounds.
When I looked into the national colleges of other countries back when Bernie was making it a topic the biggest impact I saw was the effect it has of breaking a young adult away from their childhood economic status. They don't have to rely on family finances for loans or whatever. Those countries have economic and social mobility. The USA likes to pride ourselves on that but the numbers sadly tell a very different story.
Low economic mobility has some social outcomes such as
    • Eroding trust in institutions
    • Disenchantment with political processes
But perhaps more importantly at least to fiscal conservatives there is a significant economic (I.e. GDP) cost as well. Since this nation is facing a decline in what's called Potential Labor (due to our aging population and slow immigration replacements) it seems smart to capitalize on the Potential Labor Productivity..i.e. higher skilled people...

My opinions don't impact whether that gets implemented or not so the timing of my investigation seems unimportant. And it's neither a dead end or a highway for me...im not planning on further education...
What are you trying to say?

    Rideandrepair and LoSt_AgAiN Thank this.

Clarification is good. If we adults can learn to think and communicate clearly it MUST be good for the children, right?
