How do OTR drivers do it? Sitting for so long with no breaks?

If my schedule allows I'll stop multiple times per shift and smell the flowers or whatever... walk around, look for eye candy, grab a drink, water the bushes.. Not every hour though. Lol

 

As to length of sitting, you just build up a tolerance for it. Many people working production lines have to stand for hours. Same thing. You just get accustomed to the task at hand. Start with driving force an hour, then 2, etc until you can be in the seat for 8 hours if needed.

but yes, some of us don’t drink enough liquid to avoid urinating and that is not healthy. Others should stop and at least stand up in the cab and twist/stretch...

OTR is not really a healthy profession.

 

Its not, especially now they shut down the salad bars because they are way too dangerous.

I used to make salads with spinach, mushrooms, beets, broccoli, radish.. if it was there and it was a veggie, I'd pile it on.

But I guess covid is more dangerous than heart disease.

 

I drive a lot like bryan21384. For long runs I'll typically take 3 breaks. One 15 minute break after 2 or 3 hours, then my 30 after 5 or 6, followed by a last 15 sometime before I'm done for the day. Short runs usually all the way through.

I hydrate myself by drinking a lot 30 minutes or so before I take my breaks or am about to end my day. That way I don't need to contently stop.

And slow.rider was right about the seat, adjustment can make a big difference. I also use a U shaped cushion that I got from Amazon, designed to lessen the impact on the tail bone. That works for me. Driving a Freightliner with the cushion, I can go for hours. Driving my old Jeep, my butt gets sore fast. Seat makes a difference, it's best to experiment.

 

What's up with all these drivers who can't piss while going down the road? Hell it only takes 1 hand and a Gatorade bottle , you don't even take your eyes of the road. Iv never tried to hold off hydration. I usually drink 32oz of water with in the first hour of driving. That's not including coffee .

 

Real men use catheters. Why waste time stopping to whiz when there are plenty of quality catheters on the market. I get em delivered with my diabeetus supplies. You haven't lived till you've tried some of the latest pre-lubricated catheters.

And the best part: It's at no cost to you!

 

What's with all these drivers who HAVE TO piss while going down the road? It's gross and unsafe. If I have to piss I'll take a restroom any day. I can hold it til the next stop because I'm not past retirement age. And barring any issues with the stock market I'll hope not to be driving at that point anyway.

 

And probably why some of these ####s come over the line into my lane when passing. They're to lazy to stop to take a piss.
