FCC--Fremont Contract Carriers

There are two parts to the new bump. OTR and Flatbed received bumps on mileage and the second bump came in additional levels of bonus opportunities with 32k and 34k levels above the standard 30k

 

So, having a 100 gallon driver side tank. And 120 gallon passenger side tank. (Freightliner)

How much useable fuel do we actually have? (I know I’m essentially gonna answer my own question)

One day fuel light came on as stopping at exit ramp to get fuel. 138 gallons

More recently. Gauge touching E, 150 gallons

Today, 90 miles from fuel stop gauge nearing E, trying to do some math in my head, instead call DM to update my plan. He said I was showing 16 gallons in the system. Get a new stop 15 miles away. Put in 87g. Put me at 5/8 tank.

So assuming the burn off, and what I added. I’d say 5/8 was 102g. Which would put it full at 163. Far from the 95% useable of 220 which should be 209.

But when you fill this truck up, it shows 7/8. Which I’ve figured to be 192.5 of 220. And if you take “15 from each tank” it comes to the 163. (Not sure what the 15 from each tank is for. I’ve read it on a thread on this site)

So to answer my question with no resolution. The tanks hold 163 total.

Y’all can add to this if you also need to see a shrink over fuel solutions.

Too much math for me.

while I miss my old Volvo that would do the estimated math for me, and I miss picking my own fuel stops, I’ve gotten used to these Fuel Solutions…

most of the time it’s either giving me enough to get to our main fueling locations or topping me off… I’ve only had two times that I got real low (one was my fault and I suspect my fuel gauge acts up now and then on the second) … so I just stopped to toss in 50 and rolled along. (called DM to report what I did)

if you are hitting issues that you think you are running too low in the tanks, I’d either talk to DM about adjusting the fuel solutions (if that’s possible) or ask the shop to look into your fuel gauges.

My Freighliner has 140 gallon tank on drivers side and 100 gallon tank on blind side. The truck only has one fuel gauge and it’s reading the 100 gallon tank. I don’t usually let it get much lower than 3/8s but when I’ve gotten down to the warning light, I still have 60+or- gallons… makes me think the ‘crossover’ between tanks doesn’t equalize very fast at all…. I don’t like pushing it to find out! We can fuel anywhere at any time so why risk it…

 

Especially if you have the anti-siphon inserts.

 

Liquid seeks it's own level, there will always be more fuel in the larger tank.

 

Unless the crossover tube or a return line has a restriction

 

Left home this morning after three days off and ran up to grab a Quickie… two hours later, well, Quickie isn’t very quick today… another FCC Driver arrived and his load hasn’t been touched yet either. Looks like a bit of detention today as my trailer is still empty. Then off to Joliet IL
