I get it that trucking is a lifestyle (on which I'm soon to embark).
So for those who have been into the "lifestyle" for years, have you changed? Positives/Negatives/Regerts? Any epiphanies or insight that you care to share? What kind of man or woman are you as a result?
Hope to gain some introspective....
thanks!

It has made me more patient with others now.
Ok I am 61 in a few months, yet before my driving wasnt as calculated with speed and margin for safetyCoffey, Trucker61016, ncmickey and 7 others Thank this. -
before trucking, i turned wrenches..got sick and tired of getting dirty, dealing with moronic customers, and rude drivers pulling up to my fuel islands.
i'd go to work in the early AM, and go home late, very often not getting a meal, just a shower and off to bed, only to start it all over again, when the alarm clock rang.
made me very moody, angry, and foul mouthed.
so i went to what was a trucking school back then.
really got quickly disgusted with dealing with moronic customers, rude drivers, getting dirty, and not finding a bathroom right away.
regrets..??
yuuup...should have never became a trucker, i was working my way up a more respectable career, into management, higher pay, better benefits, home daily, crap in my own clean bathroom....
now that i am retired.....i go to the gun range......more than once a week....
what else ya wanna know..???Trucker61016, baha, rachi and 5 others Thank this. -

Yes, I used to be a mean, anti-social, recluse that would sack punch a man just to watch him drop to his knees and then I’d throat punch him just to watch him gag. And one time, I told this fella he could go up an alley and holler fish! But no more!
Every since I got into trucking I’m a new undead. No more meany meany, nasty Kenny! Now, I’m sweet Frank, the lovable and unflappable undead that loves everyone, ESPECIALLY Kentuckians.Trucker61016, spindrift, Last Call and 2 others Thank this. -
Trucking made me hate people. Before trucking I just didn't like being around most people. Now I've seen proof that most people, if thedriving public represents people in general, cannot be bothered to pay attention. Driving is generally the most dangerous thing people will do, other than marriage/divorce, yet their smartphone is more important than their driving. No matter how many times per day/week/life they nearly kill others while driving they don't notice and each episode just proves they are great at driving.
dngrous_dime, justcarhaulin, Last Call and 3 others Thank this.
