Gotta admit though, it takes a certain amount of guts to come on this forum with a bunch of hard core carnivores and advocate for not eating animals.
There will be a lot of people who disagree with @loudtom and I'm sure we'll hear from them. I hope they can state their case with as much reason and restraint as he's shown.

If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of food.

Seriously though, you don't whack a guy in the face with a ballcap, because he understands: "Hey numb nuts, don't do that." A cow doesn't understand human language, and can't reason. So they get the ballcap in the face, because it's something they do understand. We are animals that eat meat, no different than a lion, tiger, or bear (oh my!) Just because we understand we're killing another life form in order to do so doesn't make it bad. I mean it's not ideal for the cow, but if the roles were reversed, I doubt the cow would feel bad about eating me.

Now if we could create meat that was exactly like the real thing, I'd give it a shot. No sense in raising and killing livestock for the fun of it, if there's a legit alternative.

I agree with @loudtom on some points and disagree on others.

I agree that some corporations and farms do raise livestock in-humanely. I mean look at the crowded conditions some of the animals are raised in! Just looks awful! It's what animal advocates will focus on and use as evidence in their war against us carnivores eating meat. Outside of the agricultural industry, and into the pet industry; common pets and exotics are all treated as fodder for cash! Betta fish kept in tiny ### cups when they require large amounts of space (at least 5 gallons per individual male). Tarantulas being sprayed when most are supposed to be kept dry. Bearded Dragons kept on their "sand" which can cause impaction. Basically, these groups focus on all the negative aspects, and ignore the good guys that actually care about the animals since they know that a happy animal is a healthy animal.

I also disagree that agricultural livestock, farm animals, and breeders are all bad and should be attacked for their practices. Most are bad, but not all. Some of which can be blamed on poor education of proper husbandry and care. Most of which is based upon greed. But! There are farmers, breeders, and everybody else involved with any aspect of agriculture, breeding, raising animals for food or profit that actually care about the animals being raised and will do everything they can to keep the animals happy and healthy.

So my message to @loudtom and any other animal activist is this. Stop blasting the entire industry as a whole! Only go after the true perpetrators of greed and bad practices of husbandry and horrible care! There are farmers, ranchers, breeders, and everyone in between that actually care and do take care of their stock.

*I eat meat and #### proud of it! I also feed snakes live food when required (last resort for stubborn snakes turning down frozen/thawed)! I'm also working on breeding and raising mice, rats, and rabbits for feeders and pets. And these feeders will be given great lives (not like most breeders I've seen where its just mice and rats in square wooden boxes with basic food, water, and bedding).

My issue lies with how society handles these subjects. We are allowed to humanely kill animals to eat, but are not allowed euthanasia or assisted suicide for humans who are suffering. Rodeo is one of the cruelest sports out there. But if you do the same thing to your dog, it can be considered a crime. We talk about humanely treating the animals, but only until it's inconvenient. Right now, people can live without meat, so there is an alternative, but people enjoy meat too much.

Religion isn't really relevant in this matter. There are so many religions, all of which claim to be righteous. The Bible never says "thou must kill animals". So just because you can do something, that doesn't mean you should. I used to eat meat, so I can't really hate too hard on people who haven't really come to the same conclusion as I have. All I can do is lead by example and hope that it catches on. Slavery was once an acceptable practice by religion and society. Imagine how many of history's and America's heroes that we'd have to consider villains because they were just engaging in a standard practice.

Are you talking about the people that sell insecure software solutions that are easy to crack? Or the Crackers that crack them?

One of those groups might amount to a dozen or so, the other is a much bigger group.

How about add a CTO to the list. The ones that refuse to let the IT department spend the money to implement proper security and backups that they have been begging for for the last 20 years....
