There is nothing so good in trucking than doing the "man" a superior job and the "man" has the good sense to understand this value and reward it.
Years ago, I hired on, knew what trucks they had, where they run, and what they paid. I went and come, took care of the customer, loads and the truck.
I would do this for about 6 months and if the employer was so stupid or so GD tight with money, that
he did not recognize this, then I went on down the road in another set of doors.
I think this might be as good a plan now as back then. Prove you can and will do it, let them decide.

Seems like a lot of bridge closures and lower limits. Pay day is coming fairly fast on tax money waste
Curious, what is your thoughts on on the !55 bridge in Memphis?
Built way back when TN, MS, and below was 56K gross. Run those years.
Factor in the increase to 80K gross ? years till recently. Now, consider the additional volume of 80K on it, plus any non truck that used the I40 bridge. A lot of pressure on this old crossing.
