Hello:
Hope you all well. I am wondering is it possible for company alters the load value before it is gets to me?( owner operator).
I have been working as a i independent operator (owner operator) with the company for couple weeks. Today the shipper’s broker slipped the load value to me, and it is significant higher than what my load paperwork value is. Is that possible for my company to alter the value? Or is there any cost I am not thinking. There is no double booking I confirmed. The broker booked directly with the company I am working with. And what is your suggestion moving forward? Confront or just leave? Thank you in advance
My company edits the load rate, should I confront them?

Did the broker give you what he’s paying to get it moved, or what he’s getting paid?
as far as carriers editing load value, there is significant incentive to cheat, so it has happened and will happen in the future. Better to find out two weeks in than five years in...... -
Are you asking about the rate?
When you say “load value” that is usually for the insurance, should a claim need to filed.Accidental Trucker Thanks this. -
Ask to see the load confirmation

If you are being paid percentage then you have a legal right to see all rate cons for any loads you haul.... Ask to see them a few times each month at random times. This will either keep the company honest or show a thief.

Skimming off the top is a pretty common thing. You should never take their word. It’s business. Get a rate sheet for every load. Hell, I’m a company driver and I get a rate sheet for the loads I pull. If I don’t like what it pays, I don’t do it. Simple as that.

I know a guy that’s a company driver who gets paid a percentage . And he gets the original documents , usually from the shipper when he picks up the cargo.
skimming off the top is easy money , but there could be several legit reasons why the two numbers are different ,
Just ask and see how they react .
Their reaction will tell you a lot .spindrift and Frank Speak Thank this.
