When I took mine in Indiana.
You had to Alley Dock ( 2 pull ups allowed ) get the back of the trailer within 18" of the line ( without getting out ).
Parallel Park without touching anything within 12" of curb.
And back through the serpentine without touching anything.
Then 45 minute road test.
All with a state boy.
That's why we have paid parking now.
What if it Snows?

My first Road Test ended before it began. State tests were backed up for months. Plus I needed to rent a Truck. Thought I’d found the right place. A Local Cartage Co. Licensed 3rd party Tester. $50 for rental plus $50 test fee. It was a Saturday. The Guy talked about how No one could never make any money Owning a Truck. Then complained about his Stupid Lazy Drivers for 20 minutes while he washed his car. Finally I started doing the Pre Trip part. I visually inspected the front hub oil level. He said that’s not good enough. So I popped the dried up rubber cap, off the cheap brittle hubcap, dipped my finger in it. Then couldn’t get the cap back in!! So I hit it with my hand and busted the plastic window out!! Lol. Oil everywhere, I felt terrible. He threw his arms up and hollered “ This is what We have to deal with these days”! Lol. I offered to buy a new one, and install it. Nope just leave! He got my $50. By Law he had to offer one more Test for free. So the following Saturday, I passed the Pre Trip, took the test in a Junk Road Tractor, hooked you a 48” spread axle. Somehow I passed backing and whatever? The last maneuver was a right turn, close but not on a cone. I barely saw the sidewall overlap the base of the cone. That gave me 1 too many points against me. The Guy then spent 20 minutes explaining how he could help me, by paying $2800 for his School. Practicing as much as needed. Guaranteed to pass the Test. What a Jerk. Real Harda## . No Thanks! Took another Test a few weeks Later somewhere else. No BS. Guy offered Me a job afterwards.

I never even left the parking lot with my road test. I shifted 4-5 gears on a 13 speed with a Detroit 2 stroke and the guy said turn around I know you can drive…….

Local FD was on the Loves up the road from my place about "letting people park in the fire lanes". Guy that ran the shop at the time was a Volunteer FF. He would just call the county fire Marshall type to roust the city chief out of bed to have somebody roll down with a fire truck to harass the parkers. Only took a couple of times to educate the city chief.LoSt_AgAiN, SoulScream84, lovesthedrive and 3 others Thank this. -
My CDL Road test was pretty easy... Tester said "If you spill my coffee, I fail you." He then set his very tall slender coffee mug up on the narrow passenger side dash of the 1995 Pete 379, and said "Drive!"... I was glad I chose that truck to test in, I could shift it smooth as butter up and down. After the first 5 miles and several corners, stoplights, ECT. He said "As long as you dont hit a curb, break the law, or spill my coffee on the way back you pass."

I'm glad this discussion about passing the test is happening. I just realized that this thread will be a full 10% of all the messages in "Questions From New Drivers" in another 1100 or 1200 messages. And I for one want to make sure that new drivers get the right information and inspiration.

I don't think this needs its own thread so I'll ask it here, does anybody know what kind of "robots" are on the forum and how the forum knows that they are bots? For the first time I looked at the "who is online" section on the right hand side of the forum from the main page. And they have:
Total: 3,251 (members: 195, guests: 3,011, robots: 45)
What kind of bots are these and how does the forum know that they are bots in the first place? Lol anybody notice this before?LoSt_AgAiN, Rideandrepair, InTooDeep and 5 others Thank this.
