I live about 90 miles NE of Sioux Falls. There are a lot of jobs there. Just so you know South Dakota is not known for it high wages. Not bad but not great. I am currently hauling gas. I go to Sioux Falls about once a week. There are two interstates that run through there. Find a good paying job that services or travels through there.

You might get lucky and find a good job there. I didnt. I tried.
I live in the Black Hills. I ended up driving for a company out of Denver. I’m happy here.
You can get a mailbox at America’s Mailbox in Box Elder. Right next to flyingJ. Very good mailbox service. Under SD law. It qualifies as a residence address.tscottme, Truckermania, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this. -
There’s also K&B out of Sioux City if you run reefer. 65 cpm with $1625 pay guarantee last I heard. That’s for their “out a long time 10 days off” deal. They run recap with forced dispatch, so not the most leisurely thing, but the pay is the real deal I have heard.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
A driver posted on here and he worked at K&B for a few years.
He said the advertised pay is the real deal. -
Yeah, you can divide companies roughly into those that BS about pay and those that don’t, Word is they are one on the no BS side. Doesn’t mean fun or easy, round the clock dispatch, I think mostly a meat hauling company, similar to Van Wyke but different pay structure. But, if you needed to stack up cash there’s worse things than having another $10k in your bank account every time you go on hometime.

Basically, here's my story:
1. I'm an expat who lives in the Philippines when I'm not driving OTR.
2. I only drive in 4 or 5 months stints, then I bail to my overseas vacation, come back, drive again, and then leave again.
3. My CDL expires in less than 6 months out of Arizona.
4. I want to establish residency, but I'm not really a resident at all. I merely drive trucks OTR for whatever company will hire me. I don't see the problem, but I don't make the laws.
5. I want to establish a "residency" as cheap as possible. Oh sure, I could sign a lease or something for an apartment, but that doesn't make sense financially and I'm not doing it.
6. I'm basically a nomad who drives trucks, which is not all that unusual in the OTR industry. I just don't have anyone's address to use legally for residency.
7. Why worry about making more USD when the whole system is destined to crash and burn at some point? That point is yet undetermined, but we all know it's coming. So maybe the idea of renewing my CDL is just a wasted endeavor.
Lots to contemplate for sure. -
I don't own a vehicle in the USA. It's mainly Uber of Lyft when the need arises.Chinatown Thanks this.
