Got a call from someone I did work for before. They want me to haul there grain trailer for them
This is a power only job.
Round trip is either 1hr or 1.5 hour depending on the elevator he wants to use.
His trailer holds between 650-700 bushels
3 loads a day, possibly 4.
The job is only about 20 minutes from me.
Location is in the kansas city, MO area.
What do I charge? By the mile, time, loads, bushel?
I usally haul my flatbed and do my own work so this is a little different for me.
Rate to charge for hauling beans

If your going to ADM in KC.. be prepared it sit in line 30 to 45 mins.. I did the other day
I charge by the bushel.. but I have my own trailer...he must have a awful small trailer if it only holds 650 or 700 bu. I can haul 1150 bu in mine it's a 45'
I probably would charge by the mile and pencil in alittle extra for waiting time
For what it's worth ..I charge .46 a bu to go to ADM in KC.. from the area where I live.. I can get 3 loads a day easy 4 if I don't have to sit in line for a hr or more to dump .so maybe that will help you figure something outLast edited by a moderator: Nov 1, 2021

FLD120 with a 350hp N14, or the 11.1 Detroit day cab.
Tires bulging, 45mph maximum - MN Baseline to town, praying nothing busts - 7 miles.
Think about that some time.D.Tibbitt, Cat sdp, LoneRanger and 2 others Thank this. -
Our company charges by the bushel, rate depends on the distance. Customer gets 1 hour from time of arrival until dumping, and they get charged an hourly waiting rate after that.
Lots of things can happen that will result in drivers sitting, waiting to get unloaded. Lines can get long.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
