Drop yard in Fontana. I've been to Ontario, Riverside, Carson, Rancho Cucamonga, etc. Not too often. In and out. You wont get stuck running loads there. Lots of freight to and from Calexico. All Drop and hook in Calexico.

Good to know.. my former company had a warehouse in Ontario, CA and drivers used that quite often to avoid afternoon traffic leaving CA... It was nice, quiet and safe.. used to take my 10 there and then leave sometimes at 1 or 3 in the morning... :D
But they got rid of that because it was getting too expensive and got another warehouse in Chandler, AZ... drivers have been complaining about not being able to run enough miles when leaving the warehouse and going to LA and then running out of hrs before being able to leave CA... and not many options to park in that area... :biggrin_1square1:

Do they allow you to leave car and truck at Fontana yard when you're OTR and on hometime? It looks tiny on Google satellite view.

I see cars parked there. I know they have some local guys that work out of there. Ask a recruiter.

Visited their HQ in Mount City, TN yesterday... doors remain locked and visitor must ring bell in order to be let in... Then, must sign in and get a badge to speak with somebody...

The 3 store building on one side looks big... but there is no breakdown room for drivers, no driver facilities and drivers don't seem to even go there...
The departments (dispatch, breakdown, safety, recruiting, logging, etc) are in the yellow building across the street...

Lady in the big building called someone to let me in the yellow building to go see the recruiter...

Recruiter was home sick... So, I had a quick visit with another recruiter and then headed to their shop a few miles down the road...

Wasn't impressed with that shop... it looked very small, dark, dirty and all mechanics might be probably in their lunch break even thought it wasn't noon yet...
Was hoping to see some drivers... but saw only one by luck... he said he was a trainer and we talked very briefly...

Then, I headed to their location in Lebanon, TN. But when I arrived at 16:02 hr or so, the gate was locked and there was nobody inside. Called the number on the sign and left a message with terminal manager. He called me later.

I plan on going back there tomorrow... want to get inside of a truck and get a "feeling"... Never drove and never lived inside a Kenworth t680.

Good luck. I really believe you are overthinking this whole situation. To each his/her own.

If these things upset you, you will definitely have a rough time with life on the road dealing with, shippers and receivers, other drivers, Haj running you off the road, same Haj washing his feet in the same sink next to you while your brushing your teeth, long wait times at the fuel island, long wait times for a shower, and not the end of the world, but nothing to eat off the roller grill.

    Thanks.:biggrin_25519:
But what do you mean "overthinking"?
Nothing wrong with checking everything one possibly can in order to make an informed decision and avoid regrets later that might force one to leave...
That's how I did with my former 2 companies and it worked quite well...
It is quite an "Investment" for me and for the company to start working together...
But yeah... like you wrote, each one is different...
BTW, I know very well there are no "ideal" or "perfect" trucking companies.... and I am not looking for anything "perfect"... much less in trucking... :biggrin_25523:
