please give me your advice, I’m on the road with the trainer , it kind of late 1:30 am , my trainer was sleep , my 11 hrs almost end , when I pull in fuel island to end my shift, I hit another trailer and broken the tail light , I’m not try to make excuses and get away with it , after almost 11 hrs of driving , I thought I’m done with my shift, but it happened by the last minute, there are some truck park illegally around fuel island to sleep , that why I’m don’t have much room to swing wide , and it’s my fault , I should GOAL , big learning lesson for rookie, I just wonder how much this incident will effect my CDL , no ticket at all , does my company or insurance will report this incident to DAC ? And how long it will stay ? Does it will effect my jobs hunt later ? Thank you for all advice
With trainer, pulled in to fuel island and hit another trailer. Help!

Doesn't matter how the other truck was parked. You hit it. That's an accident. You're at fault.
Did the officer write you a ticket?
You've seen some of the carnage on these roads. A taillight is insignificant.
Depends on your employer and insurance company.
Good luck.Pamela1990, GYPSY65, AsianLuv2Drive and 2 others Thank this. -
Sounds very minor to me. Happens to many new drivers. Should not end your career. Be more careful in the future.

You’re fine if this is the first incident. Companies that train new drivers see this sort of thing every day.
Do it one or two more times and they’ll likely part ways with you and then you’ll be stuck with having to go to “second chance” outfit.tscottme, Flat Earth Trucker, GYPSY65 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Doesn't matter if they were parked illegal or not .. you hit a stationary object.. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.....next time it might be the hood of a truck ...your the exact reason I stay out of big truckstops
If your trainer was worth his salt he should of chewed your aress and knocked you into next weekLast edited by a moderator: Nov 23, 2021

Another option would be to offer the other driver a new taillight installed by the Loves tech (their option) and a bit of cash for the trouble. Instead of calling the police.
