Recieved letter from MO DOR that my CDL is expiring within 90 days and has a current HME that needs an updated TSA threat assessment.

Went and fingerprinted, then took the written test. Attempted to renew license and the DMV is saying (basically they haven't received anything from TSA) that it would only renew the CDL up to the date of the last (expiring soon) threat assessment.

She said I needed the letter from the TSA - however, when I enter my code into the universal enrollment site - it states -

"TSA sent notification of your HME eligibility to your state of license. . . . . . TSA does not send or issue approval letters"

I was used to the TSA process taking 4-6 weeks, but as it's my 3rd time, and my TWIC is still current, I'm thinking it only took 2 days because I'm a current holder of a similar credential.

Either the gal at the DMV is doing something wrong, or the TSA hasn't sent them notification.

Question - has anybody else done this recently and received/not received a letter? And - Is the TSA slow at informing the state DMV?

I printed out the verbiage from the TSA login site that states I'm eligible, and I'll try again on Monday.

Call your Congress person first thing on Monday, they have people on staff that handle these problems for people in the district.

I didn’t want to jump that far so soon, but it’ll probably be at least, a call to Jefferson City.

I went through this last February. They started the policy of not sending letters a week after getting my fingerprints done. When I finally found out the new policy, I went to the local DMV and the gal pulled it right up and issued me a new license. Bottom line, your DMV person is doing something wrong, the TSA approval should be on their system.

The gal that normally does it wasn’t there, so I think you’re right.

The other one that was there said “A guy came in last week with a letter!” - she must be confusing the issue.

Small town DMV, it’s great - no waiting time, and they’re all Neighbours in some respect.

    Try again Monday.

    cke Thanks this.

I did the fingerprinting on 9/8/21. After 30 days I called and was told they would look into it, like put a tracer on it. They even noted that since I had just passed the whole thing (again) for my Hazmat. On 11/11/21 I called again and the guy looked me up and said there was a note that they had stopped processing my application on 10/25/21. Seems that when my birth certificate was scanned when I did my prints that the bottom got cut off. 10/26 to when I called on 11/11 is like 16 days, and they couldn't be bothered to email me about this.
Guy told me i could fax it in to a number he gave me. Or I could send it snail mail. But snail mail they would not accept a photocopy, only the certified copy that had the raised seal that they could feel. Like they could feel that seal on a fax. I ended up getting my terminal to fax it in and that's where I'm at now.
I love my country but at times I really hate our bureaucratic government.
And if you are wondering why I didn't do both the Haz and the Twic at the same time. I needed the haz to apply to my company but the Twic could be obtained later. And the company paid for the Twic too.
