No, he means that he did his research and went with a company that will actually train him and then let him go to work. What the OP is going through is not training. It is, at best, mentoring.
Schneider and a few others believe that once the trainer is no longer riding in the right hand seat it means the driver is good to be one their own. There are plenty of options for new drivers that don't involve forced teaming. To imply that a person is weak for seaking out a situation that meets their needs is rather myopic.
My luck with trainer, so stress right now.

Are there 2 other trainers at TTR that you hold in high esteem? Perhaps you 3 could write a Trainer’s Bible. There are quite a few rookies who have been driving for 6 months whose company has convinced them that they have the capability to train. They come to TTR and ask about training. If the rookie has A Game for his default setting, that will carry on in training. An A Gamer would take the info for the edge in training. It would take some time, but it is possible that eventually it would create a standard for trainers as A Game trainers would excel far above the rest.Last edited: Dec 16, 2021

It happens a lot. Trainers either an Idiot, or not a qualified Trainer. Getting a new one costs the Student time. Better than being assigned a Truck before you’re not ready. It’s a crime IMO to send someone out without the proper skills. Either way you’ll learn. Most of it will probably be on your Own. My Dad was a Trainer for 10 yrs. He had one Student that had been through 3 Trainers. Last one had kicked him off the Truck. I met him, smart guy, good attitude. Just had bad luck with a few idiots. My Dad did it for the money, no doubt. But he really enjoyed helping others and teaching a skill. He helped Me when I needed it. Never made a big deal out of anything. I had a Dispatcher once who wasn’t very clear on his instructions. I’d repeat them back, making sure I understand. He claimed I had a problem. I just wanted to keep him happy. So it goes. I still repeat instructions back when they’re not clear. Never been afraid to communicate. Some people don’t know how, or are intimidated. That leads them to act irrationally. Chill out, relax, trust your gut. Hope your next Trainers more Professional. As far as their personal habits, just have to put up with it. Close the curtain, open a window, use ear plugs, use eye mask, whatever. Your going to run into many more ignorant people that seem to enjoy giving you a hard time. Starting with the Guard at the Gate, the Shipper/Receiver, other Drivers. There’s no shortage of daily aggravations caused by dealing with others. All you have to do is get through it, keeping your Dignity. Plenty of time in future for good times. Soon you’ll be a Pro. You’ll look back and laugh. Meanwhile try to rise above the situation, don’t doubt yourself.
