Are you allowed to have a gun in your truck?

I'm 99.3% sure you can carry a flare gun legally in each state. And they are lethal at close range.

 

Flare guns are awesome !!!!.. it will differently light up somebody's life...keep 1 beside the seat along with Smitty & Wess

 

When it comes to firearms my philosophy is that it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

I carry, very discreetly. Nobody on the job has ever seen it or knows I have it. But it’s always there.

I’m lucky though. I’m tall, big, and bald. Most people take one look at me and don’t even think about it.

Many years ago I was in my personal vehicle and had my kids with me and they were like 7 and 2 years old at the time. We’re parked in a restaurant and we’re leaving I’m about to put the car in reverse when a old Cadillac pulls up behind me and this guy that looked like he just got out of prison had spotted his girlfriend or ex or something and he’s yelling at her. All the nasty terms for women B…h,C..t, Ho, Slut, even some N-Bombs. So I’m hoping he’ll just move so I can back out but he’s not moving, So I yell hey move it man, and I got my kids in here so I don’t want them hearing that. He starts yelling F you cracker, F your little cracker kids, so then I open my car door and stand up and he starts driving off and cursing at me, but now he’s doing it as he’s driving away.

I used to when I first started driving, until I was sent to Virginia with a load of sandblasting sand. I was never told the receiver was a naval shipyard. I wasn't arrested but my firearm was confiscated and I was laid over until the next day. They gave me my firearm back once I was off the property. Once I got back to home base I took the gun back to my house and haven't had it in there since

 

Point being, a fake gun will get you killed.
If you do not want to carry a firearm to defend yourself then the best thing you can do is avoid danger or if it's unavoidable comply and hope for the best.
I myself choose not to be a victim. I am a former LEO and do know the usual outcome of those who are not prepared to defend themselves.
Do not rely on your former military training for your self defense strategy. I say this because during my time as a State Trooper we carried .38 caliber revolvers and we're well trained with them. I spent a lot of time on combat courses and average scores were 298 out of 300 possible.

Couple years ago I decided to upgrade to 9mm and learned the difference from shooting a revolver to a semi automatic. While my pattern would have been effective at very close quarters it took some range time and instruction to hone it in my accuracy.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I think refusing to get vaccinated and everyone getting in an uproar about mandates is the most careless and ridulous thing. So, it just depends on your perspective. Of course, you could have easily stated that with alot less insult and alot more tact. My opinion at least. While you may have thought it stupid and ridiculous, it was a sincere question from someone who's obviously outside the gun culture and simply doesn't know.

 

Thanks for the insight. And, I never qualified on a pistol in the military. Both times were an M-16. I was electronics technician and frankly if it got so bad they issued me a gun, it meant we were in deep trouble. Regardless, qualifying on an M-16 was mandatory in basic training and before I went overseas (Germany). In my 10 years of service, those were the only 2 days I ever had a gun in my hand having to do with the military. I'm from rural Texas originally and I think learning to shoot a gun is about as mandatory as it gets. So, I knew at the time at least. I think it's been over 40 years now and I can't remember shooting a gun since then. So unsure if I have any aim acuman anymore. Nothing against Texas and the Southern culture, but as an adult, I've learned I'm much more the hippy liberal type.
