This is for you driver who park where you’re not supposed to.
I pulled into a Pilot at 3am. It was on a corner with two highways. The entrance I took. Only way I could get in was to drive opposite direction through the fuel island. Then U turn back through fuel island. There were six trucks side by side. Completely blocking the driveway in and out. At least they weren’t camped out on the fuel island.
.
I told the people inside. When I left. They had woken up all those drivers. They were clearing out.
Busted!

It’s BS that you had to fight to get in and then tell the “Workers” to look out the window or at their monitor and do their job. They should be all over those guys non stop.
Speed_Drums, WesternPlains, bzinger and 4 others Thank this. -
There are certain truck stops and rest areas I avoid altogether at night because of this. Unfortunately, I had to learn of each one the hard way.
In related news, there were 3 tow trucks removing unattended trucks at the Loves in Bordentown NJ the other night.Dave1837, TravR1, WesternPlains and 9 others Thank this. -
At one time, the Peelot in Caddo Mills, TX was towing drivers who got creative making parking spots. They were putting up new larger 'no parking, towing enforced' signs all along the spots where they didn't want people to park. And the local police department would come out and help in case the drivers got unruly. Not sure if they are still that strict, but I was glad to see a truckstop step up and take action
WesternPlains, Lonesome and bzinger Thank this. -
"Creative Parking".....more like " I don't care who or what I'm blocking"
jethro712, Dave1837, WesternPlains and 4 others Thank this. -
They really need to make a law that requires a truck stop to be built within x amount of miles if the area has y amount of warehouses. you cant have thousands of trucks coming into a city daily with nowhere to park for 50+ miles. not saying you should ever illegally park, but this situation will keep happening. some areas are so congested that the only nearby truck stop is full before 12PM.
another reason I'm glad I don't do OTR anymore. most of the job was figuring out where to sleep. -

A college roomate who was 'in' NJ Real Estate scoffed years ago when I told him to buy land in the western part of the state and build truck parking while land close to the interstate was 'somewhat' affordable. The other day he spoke about reading that truck parking was becoming a huge issue & told me we could have made millions.
With all those people already competing tooth and nail to glean every penny from the truck driver; I could forgive someone who provided sensible parking with security, clean rest room/showers.
Like everything else in our society; the 'producing' group is being hamstrung by the 'entitled feeling' group.
I've said for years that the NYC metro area needs to HAVE to search out groceries in another state for a while to really understand the hardship, blood, sweat and tears that put the groceries on their shelves.
Unfortunately they will forever consider those who keep them alive, farmers, truck drivers, etc. as something they can scrape off the soles of their shoes.Numb, bzinger, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this.
