I just got some great news. I am not sure I mentioned this before. My sister filed a civil action against me back in Georgia about 8 months ago. What happened was my oldest sister had a parcel of land that had been recently appraised at $1700 back in 2011. After our mom died all three of us split our mom's house and property into even thirds. The total appraised value was around $65,000 at that time. So I made my sister an offer of my signing over my third to her in an even swap with that other parcel. I was taking a net loss because I was no longer living there and wanted to get out of that probate situation. Well about a year after I moved to Virginia I sold that piece of property for close to $20,000 to a developer. That entire area saw property values skyrocket. My sister got it in her head that I committed fraud and wants the swap-out agreement tossed by the courts. Yes, that sister is that petty! Because of my health, I was unable to physically go to court but was able to do it via zoom. What set my sister off as they were only able to get $51,000 for the old homeplace. This means my sister swapped land that would become $20,000 for around $17,000. As a settlement, she was after the $3,000 plus interest and attorney fees. We had our last zoom hearing about 30 days ago. The Judge finally released his ruling. All claims were denied, AND my counterclaim for my attorney fees was granted. So my sister now owes me my Attorney fees. We are not talking about a lot of money and honestly not worth the hassle of collecting. Still, my primary point was made! Mess with the bull sometimes you get the horns!

Years ago, finance companies borrowed from Walter Heller in Chicago. Deal was a note for a line of credit for say $500,000 was at say 4%. BUT, in the terminology (fine print) you agreed to only use $450,000. They called it "A Compensating Balance". Tended to increase the "yield"...Rideandrepair, Dale thompson, BennysPennys and 2 others Thank this. -
Keri is home now. The mail ran and she brought it up when she walked in. Her Drivers License hard copy came back. I got her American ID with that hard copy and took a photo and placed it on Facebook about 20 minutes ago. Everything is done until we can get to DC to get her passport fixed.Rideandrepair, Dale thompson, Cowboyrich and 3 others Thank this. -
