Even tho I had hazmat before, since I didn't by the Feb deadline I also have to take some hazmat theory test BEFORE I can take the actual one.

Driving test is registered as a provider and they claim you will pass the actual hazmat test or your money back and for $100 for just 30 day access they better.

    Edit

Funny. San Antonio has no DMV opening but ton of TWIC spots. Houston has tons of same day spots open at their mega DMV center but all TWIC centers in the whole city have 1 month wait....

I prefer irregular route OTR with as little interaction with the company's office as possible, along with reliable equipment and a respectable pay rate. Plus health insurance is a must as well, and not someplace that uses Obamacare.

I saw an ad online somewhere for a company called Muckamuck. It was a dedicated run from Cali to FL and back. But it had no mention of health insurance or what type of equipment or pay. I found a company with that name listed on SAFER WEB, only had 2 or 3 trucks.

Got done with the Walmart delivery. Considering how many PO's and pages of product I had, 3 hours seemed fairly reasonable. Got to Stuarts Draft and got drop and hooked, but it took 30 mintues to get the pins to retract and the tandems to slide...(got the pins in, then it wouldn't slide, and I couldn't find a curb to back against) of course it didn't help that every can of lube I have in my truck wouldn't spray, and I haven't bought my yearly supply of lovebug remover (as in Dawn soap). Managed to make it to the old White's Petro in Raphine and found a spot at 1:45 am. They have the delivery of this load to Edwardsville pushed out until Wednesday, so I have plenty of time.

One nice advantage with my handheld Zebra unit is I can turn it completely off. Up to and including removing the battery. When I go off duty I turn it off and it doesn't do anything until I turn it back.

You should be able to get your fingerprinting done anywhere. Don't have to be in your home state. When I lived in Texas I got mine done in Vicksburg, Ms.

Texas is weird. They give you a unique number that's tied to your state DL number to use for fingerprinting for hazmat when you pass the test . The background check is the same as the one for the Twic but they will not accept it unless you do the fingerprints with the code.

Also on the plus side...the load they got me to get home delivers the day before my apt IN Houtson! The route for it will normally have me take i45 down from Dallas but I might just go out of route and take i35 to stop by my house to get my documents then take i10 to Houston. That way I wouldn't need to drive my own vehicle all the way and back.

They must be going broke here and need their paperwork immediately so they can bill the customer the next morning. I got empty at 22:30 last night. I just got the automated ##### message about them not receiving the paperwork by midnight... they're #####ing because I didn't get my paperwork in within 90 minutes. F these micromanaging ########...and the horse they rode in on.
