From my experience - guys that sink big $ into their trucks do it from a hobby standpoint.
Maybe - wife has a good job, no kids - inheritance, worked and saved etc. Hats off to them. I love seeing a nice ride.
Some do it for ego.
An FLD 120 with my trailer earns the same $. as I do.
Some of the cosmetics don’t work for me - close fit double hump fenders and low drop bumpers are impractical on a construction site.
Extra wheelbase on an extended trailer brings added escorts and permits where a COE can save.
There’s a big gap between’best in show’ and ‘working trucks’.
