I’d have more respect for freymiller if he just went on his way at a high rate of speed. Instead once he got by on the right he slowed down the right lane…….slice and dice and go on your way.

    jerk off move….

You did your first and last name, and email? I haven't signed yet because of that.

He did that to force numbnuts in the right lane to back out of it so the guy in the fast lane could get over and let traffic resume. He wasn't trying to get in front of him, so much as he was trying to force traffic "back to normal".

This has been in the works for a long time and it is definitely gonna happen. The ATA knew what was coming years ago and shaped the conversation their way. Their stance is 70 is a reasonable speed for trucks equipped with auto brakes and cruise, those without can go 65. Do with that what you want as ridiculous as it sounds and is.
I personally believe cruise control and ATA drivers wearing headphones are the biggest culprit of most crashes. I 81 from Knoxville all the way to Wilkes-Barre, Pa will be a pleasure. It will be a 500 mile conga line of trucks in the right lane and a cluster f of four wheelers in the left. Doesn't sound very safe to me. If they set it at 72 not much would change and the public would feel better about all of us unsafe drivers. One thing is for certain. It's going to happen. The speed that they decide is the question.

Exactly right. @Lyle H ...this answers your question just as well as if I'd said it. Maybe better.

Yes - I'm not afraid of being publicly exposed.

I'm not anonymous by any means.

The email is a 'junk ' one.

You could make the same argument against any ammendment in the bill of rights. Freedom is a little messy. Locking everyone down into a 65 mph truck isn't a solution to anything and most certainly not safe.

It’s not about safety and has never been about safety. Now they can at least say it’s about fuel efficiency when in reality the ATA is pushing for it because in their eyes if we all have to go the same speed then there’s less incentive for anyone to quit one of their trash member companies for another one. Swift’s turnover will only be 99% instead of 130% if all the trucks have to drive the same speed.

Most fleet trucks are governed at 65 or less and we all see how that’s working out.

If you really want to convince people, you should use data to support your opinions. Raider Express is governed at 55mph, and they've had 1 accident in the past 2 years with a fatality involved. If governed trucks are going to kill people, Raider Express should have a lot more than that. This is the same reason that ELDs went through, because people aren't willing to do the research to come up with logical arguments.

This is one example, and Raider Express might just be a fluke. May Trucking Company might be another fluke. Compare a bunch of companies and don't cherry pick. I really don't care either way if they implement governors or not, as long as I don't have to pay $400 and wait two weeks for Volvo to do it.
