Yes, we do get paid for empty miles. But at a much lower rate than loaded miles. Also fuel surcharge is only on loaded miles. Empty miles pay is basically enough to cover fuel and run the truck, but you don't make any money off of that. As opposed to Company driver pay you get paid the same for all miles, So it doesn't matter to you if they deadhead you 200 miles to pick up a load someplace you are still making the same money

Well after nearly a month I got my truck back from Freightliner. I hope all those Gremlins are gone for good!
I’m going to California with a good 1,643 miles and I hope that I-76 or I-70 in Colorado don’t have another episode of being closed down again!
I make it a habit of checking the websites but sometimes a sudden act of nature can give a surprise!
Seen that video of an F-3 go through Andover, Oklahoma last week! That was terrible. They said that an F-5 also hit that area some time ago!
Mother Nature it’s playing her mean face any where this days with surprises!!!

 

You got that right about mother nature, had some close calls with tornadoes Around my neck of the woods last week . At least 3 That I know of within 5 days 10 miles of the house Monday and Wednesday nights , I hate it when we have weather like that and I'm not home and have to watch the radar on my phone And make sure the wife gets her and the dogs in the storm cellar if need be , pretty crappy feeling when you are home and can't do anything . But that's the life of a trucker right… We lost power sometime Wednesday night From 2 tornadoes that touch down near Earlsboro, Oklahoma Didn't finally get the power turned back on till around 5 PM yesterday! I'm pretty sure the freezers will be alright, but everything in the refrigerator I'm pretty sure is a complete loss . Oh well, I guess I'll just be happy we still have a house

 

With all the streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, Live-X-Live(a.k.a Slacker), etc., where you can skip songs you don't like, I am baffled at how Sorryass/XM is still in business

 

Not to nitpick, but please don't confuse Andover, KS and Oklahoma, lol. We maintain our roads and don't take 10+ years when we do fix them.

 

I know I thought the same. I think 1/2 of their statistics are from people who called to cancel, were tired of being on hold for an hour and said to hell with it.
