Yes, we do get paid for empty miles. But at a much lower rate than loaded miles. Also fuel surcharge is only on loaded miles. Empty miles pay is basically enough to cover fuel and run the truck, but you don't make any money off of that. As opposed to Company driver pay you get paid the same for all miles, So it doesn't matter to you if they deadhead you 200 miles to pick up a load someplace you are still making the same money

Well after nearly a month I got my truck back from Freightliner. I hope all those Gremlins are gone for good!
I’m going to California with a good 1,643 miles and I hope that I-76 or I-70 in Colorado don’t have another episode of being closed down again!
I make it a habit of checking the websites but sometimes a sudden act of nature can give a surprise!
Seen that video of an F-3 go through Andover, Oklahoma last week! That was terrible. They said that an F-5 also hit that area some time ago!
