I’d be curious of the number of new authorities in CA over the last year or so since the AB5 stuff went into effect also. A lot of guys that were leased on had to get their own authority.

Not denying that there’s been a large influx of new entrants, just wondering out loud the numbers for CA only since it’s not broken down by state.

Yep. The mechanics behind the boom and bust cycles we’ve always faced still work the same. Just the scale and speeds have changed.

I don’t know where they get their rate data from, but I don’t think they see all rates, most carriers hold that info pretty close ,

    Spot market info most likely.

Freight waves get it from the largest brokerage firms. CH, TQL, coyote and the likes. So you have to take that info with a grain of salt. It is real time data though from the last 72 hrs.

It’s really just a signal of what spot rate trucks are doing. There has been between 120,000 and 150,000 new carriers added to the spot market in the last 12 months. They just about all went to the booming spot market and now are going to starve each other.

Yes , they get info from people that want to sell cheap to increase their income.

My grandson went to work for a big brokerage company in Texas when he graduated college.

First day they explained that they have their loads at this price and the goal is to sell them for as little as possible.

Once again if truckers would learn to keep their mouth closed they could have kept the gravy flowing.

Right. So therefore the information is suspect.
