We don’t deal with lumpers hardly ever but I did move an over weight and damage container a while back for TQL. Once I got it loaded we realized it was 9k heavier and I couldn’t scale it on my step deck. 31F47FE1-0384-44E1-A75F-B3290AF6714B.jpeg
So I took it across town to get unloaded and unstuffed, to trans load into one of our dry vans that we had a few hours away. 1070B46C-2FE9-46DF-9F44-3FB26CE008B3.jpeg 0AE07828-95AD-4564-A943-B8705AB121FB.jpeg before I left to get the van I asked if we could open the can just to see what we were getting into. When we saw 47k pounds of dog treats floor loaded, the guy said “ the price I quoted them just doubled”. It took 5-8 guys, including me, all freaking day to unload and palletize that load. There was a few feet of the bigger boxes then 30 plus feet of 7 pound boxes. By the end of it the guy said that’s the last container unload they are going to deal with, and I shared the same thoughts. 6BAD8C50-4660-429E-9D54-695C6E3EC377.jpeg

I bet that $600 lumper feet looks like a hell of a deal compared to what that rigging company hit TQL for. On top of $11,500 in storage at the rail yard because that box sat there for 2 months.

That’s my one and only van load, and I hope it stays that way!

They sent me to the Voyager moon crater lot to pick up my shag load to Denver...and the G.D. thing isn't here...drove thru the mud pit twice and it's not here. This company's Op's department is as organized as the Keystone Kops doing a Chinese Fire Drill in a 3 stooges movie... blindfolded

Didn't get sent to do that NJ load. Even tho it was preload the shipper wanted me to pu at 12pm - 1pm which I don't do so it was removed.

Got another load heading back to the Walmart DC in NC however I'm going about 130 miles the opposite way to pu the preload so it's now a 600 mile run compared to the 380 from yesterday.

Hoping for loads back out West.

we have another droplet on the other side of the interstate. Get the Addy from dispatch and the gate code. A lot of Shaffer drivers are getting pissed and refusing to drop at VGer.

That ended up being where it was at. Finally got someone in Op's to answer me (basically by saying answer or I am bobtailing home to FL).

On a positive note, my load to Oakland is preloaded already, but on an 837### trailer...there goes my back and neck...does our health coverage cover emergency chiropractic care?...1200 miles with a meat load on an 837 trailer...I might need it :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2556:

It doesn’t make one #### lick a sense to keep using voyager mud pit considering the dry side is using that other paved controlled access lot…

I couldn't agree more. My truck looks like crap, all because of that mud bog

That’s a fair price. A grocery truck costs that much to load. Like Walmart pays 8 hours of picking @28/hr, 1 hour of loading @23/hr, benefits, manager & support staff fees etc. Probably comes out to $500/trailer just keeping it in house.

    gentleroger and Jarhed1964 Thank this.
