@supersnackbar , if no one is held accountable for cleaning out the trailers, why not start doing it yourself? At least then you can't complain about always having to get it washed out, you'll know in the back of your mind you're returning the same treatment to the other lousy drivers lol.

We got guys at work here who don't clean out our line trucks or our buckets after a day's work. I get on it the next day and old pole butts/leftover wire/utility pole material is still on it from the previous job. I used to clean it off and now I say eff it and leave it for the next guy. Not playing maid to everyone else.

I clean the trailers I am hooked to if they need it...there are times I don't have a trip number to charge a washout on the company's charge account, but I try to never leave a dirty trailer, or one that has less than 3/4 of a tank of fuel. Not sure where you get the idea I do anything less.

Treat others how you would like to be treated. That’s my moto. Just because someone leaves a mess for me doesn’t make it right for me to leave one for the next guy.

Especially lately when we've had some equipment shortages, that drop and hook might end up being a live load and then if I were bringing in a dirty trailer, I'd be the one stuck with it...and Karma is my #1 stalker.

The empty trailer I picked up when I came out of the house three weeks ago in the houston drop lot dropped the trailer with 6 gallons of reefer fuel in the tank…

I hooked to a loaded repower at my company yard and it had about the same. I was planning on staying there the night but knew I couldn't risk it. I had maybe 30 minutes on my 14 and rushed to the TA, fueled, then creeped along under 5mph to make it to a parking spot. That load was a favor to another dispatcher, which ended up putting me into Jessup and losing miles to better loads. I've since determined the best course of action when dispatchers want to do load swaps is to refuse them. Nothing good ever comes of it, ever.

I actually have a battery powered pump in my sidebox that is made to fill home kerosene heaters from a 5 gal fuel can. Takes 2 D-cell batteries. Park next to the trailer and pull 10 gal out of your truck into the reefer tank.

Since my load to Oakland is already loaded, it may be not only possible, but probable that I will be able to make it to Cali and then all the way to NC by next Friday. But it all hinges on this mornings unload. If they get me done in a reasonable time and I can get up to Greeley and pick up, then make at least Little America or Ft. Bridger by tonight. I will have just enough hours on my 70 to make Fernley or Sparks tomorrow, then have time for a 34. That way I can hustle over to Oakland Sunday morning, and down to Patterson by Sunday afternoon ready to live load Monday...then bust butt to NC...but again, if this mornings unload doesn't take a half a day.
