Yea what a concept ! I wonder if they ever figured out how much fuel they wasted sending drivers looking for trailers that aren't there. It was nothing more than unpaid busy work. But NOW they are making them verify it. See how important that valuable time suddenly becomes with e logs. Before when they were running illegal as hell it was just the drivers time and that 14 hour rule wasn't important on paper. It's not like they have enough freight to even run a driver close to their 70. Now the 14 hour is getting in the way of delivery all of a sudden.
So pick up the phone idiots and make sure theres an empty available before wasting five hours of a drivers day. That 14 hour rule is a killer, huh ? Driver be ###### your nothing more than a replaceable moron at Knight.
Rumor has it, Knight 2 go 2"paperless" logs by 1 Jan, 2010

I cant remember how many times in the L.A. area when I was sent for an MT that might have been there when I left to look or had 3 other drivers showing up for the same one. And then, how many of those MT's had flat tires or other 'problems' if you were so 'lucky' to get it?! Seemed like I spent 1/2 my life with Knight fixing (as myself, since usedto shuttle trailers to/from US/Mex border in a daycab regularly) or limping over to repair shops, and then missing the load in a couple cases.
Why I always looked for live unloads in CA so as not to have to look for MTs! -

Well, I see that as much as things have changed since I left Knight, they really haven't changed at all.
Company lying to drivers.
Can't find empty trailers.
Dispatchers without a clue...

Couldnt go back now and do the job with all the harassments. Since I once worked one summer as a part-time flex mail carrier, I know and fully understand the term, "going postal." Could also apply to working at many of the big national carriers these days...like Knight. -
I can't believe I used to curse Schneider back in the day. Compared to the sub human treatment I received at Knight, Schneider from a few years ago was a Godsend in comparison. The fuel routing was all I could take. I followed the rules until the end but many times I was threatened with termination after telling them how I was going to do it to which my reply was "Finally ! Saved from this pathetic excuse of a trucking company" But they won't fire anyone as I found out. Knight does not pay unemployment, so remember that the next time you want to get 50 gallons of fuel so that you can get a shower while sitting all weekend and most of next week waiting on a junk load.

When I hired on Jan 2004, Knight was just starting to go down hill (about 1100 trucks). I met and talked with Knight drivers in their shiny new, clean Centurys while at Transmex in Calexico (they were all waiting on the Bud bottle loads back then!). Most of the drivers were veteran older types and were skillful drivers, as I watched them maneuver & park in that mud hole.
But a good sign that things were changing was what I saw happen at orientation at Phx (40 new hires/re-hires in weekly class)--someone smeared feces all over the drivers men's restroom toilet seats! Think that was a 'sign' that things were starting to go down hill. However, whomever did it was a coward!!......should have done it to the 'office' restroom!! ha ha
But the first 3 mos, after hiring on, I ran 3000+ miles/week, and when under load had 1-2 pre-plans on me. Those days didnt last too long with the opening of more terminals and the whole Hometown Carrier concept!!
