@77fib77 its 4th truck.
This one will be a project, basically bought it cause the guy that had it was done.
He spent his money and trying to run local is difficult, rates never came very high, to many farmers hauling close just to keep drivers hired for their harvest.
So he’s sold his trailer already and now he’s out.
I didn’t need it in the least, kinda helped him out and he got some cash so that’ll help him, maybe until he finds something.
I can guesstimate about $12-15k worth of work that the truck needs.
Inframe, could probably be ok, but it does have a oil leak around rocker box, but i’d just soon know what you got, transmission synchronizer is worn out, so that and the range selector, to stop it from grinding when you switch to high range.
Clutch needs adjusting/possible to need one if unable to, it’s got 0 free play.
Stabilizer bushings on rear are nonexistent. AC has been short belted.
it’s been let go by one who drove it until he was flat busted.
6 drive tires, i’d say they’re 4/32 but i don’t go that far.
2 drive tires are fairly new.
steer tires are ok, but cheap, they’ll be moved back, i’ve got two 16 ply R284s in my shed.
Body/Frame is straight, you push start button it fires right up.
My plan for it now, fix it up, it could be a Recovery truck.
one goes down under a load, it could be used to go get load and deliver it and return with trailer or even load one coming back towards shop.
Customers under stand when you break down/send them a photo of issue, but some have in contract you have to deliver with your truck/trailer, so you can’t get someone else to finish out trip unless customer agrees.
If towed, you can have the tow company deliver, but it’ll cost good.
It’s a good plan, in theory.
It’s to difficult/costly to rent one nowadays, insurance wants the full month’s premium paid even if you use the truck for a day or two, then again could take 2-3 days to lease one, paperwork wise.austinmike, dwells40, JoeyJunk and 11 others Thank this. -
Keri is on her way to Chicago as I type this. I think she will be staying in Chicago on reserve. I think the plan is to get her on a Chicago-London flight! Because it is the 4th most of the senior Flight Attendants are off. This is why I expect Keri to be headed to London either later today or on an overnight flight. The Army guy called me about 20 minutes ago asking me if I wanted to go eat breakfast somewhere.
