Darn it, I was there yesterday at 4:30! Yes that sucks but the pork loin dinner was really good. They sell a plate everyday at the deli, they post the daily offering on their Facebook page.

Same thing down at the 101, he closed his restaurant due to not being able to find workers. I wish I had seen this yesterday, we’ve conversed on here for years. Would have liked to say hey in person. I did talk to 2 or 3 drivers while eating, maybe one of them was you.

    This is sad news.

One more truck-friendly, sit-down restaurant with good food.......gone.

    #### shame.

    Dna Mach,

I didn't know that you could order a plate at the deli and sit in the restaurant area to eat. That would be ok if it is true. Just minus the waitress but it would be ok in a pinch. I'll check it out.

Yes, I’ve noticed that they update their Facebook page daily with whatever their offering that day. I highly recommend the pork loin dinner. The baby carrots were fantastic. It seems they have four or five different dinners and they just randomly mix them up. I’m also very pleased that they do this.

Stopped at the 101 exit yesterday on the way home to Texas and he said he’s closed his restaurant down completely. He said he just can’t find help anymore. I’m willing to bet that the Loves at the 126 pays pretty good for those parts AND probably offers decent benefits which is probably hard to come by in such a rural area.

It’s a sad state of affairs anymore out here. There just aren’t very many lunch counters available to kick back and relax at.

Before I retired in 2011 after 44 years I always stopped at truckstops with a sit down restaurant so I could unwind after my driving and shower were finished. It didn't matter if it was a preferred Mom & Pop, Petro or Flying J before Denny's. I miss the little juke boxes on the tables and the service you received showing appreciation for being a driver. The so called steering wheel holders can have the roller dogs at Pilot.

Nice to chat with you again, my friend. It's worth noting that even some of the independents have started to charge for parking (example: Newborn's/Noble's in Tallapoosa, Georgia). Likely the only way they can compete against the mega-chains like Pilot and Love's. So sad. Hope all is well.

    Hi bthomann,
Always good to hear from you my friend. Hope you are doing well. This has been a bear of a summer in the Rv with the heat. So hot you do not want to venture outside of the AC. We leave Crossville, Tn. on July 30 for Wytheville, Va. for 2 days and then on to Emporia, Va. for the month of August. I haven't met any of the road drivers at any of the truck stops around here. Hope to meet some of them next month. Stay safe and healthy.

If they don’t charge to park, you will get all the drivers local to the area filling up the parking, but spending their money or fueling at the Loves. Think of it like a cover charge at a bar/club to keep the riffraff out.
